Hello! I’m a new writer on this site, and I was interested in collaborating with an artist on a one-shot. It’s part of a longer work of mine I’ve been developing for a while, and I want to see if a webcomic format would work. I call it ‘An Iron Crown’, and it’s a dark fantasy about love between two characters on opposite sides of a war that’s lasted centuries.
The project is a brief story about how the two main characters meet. It will involve a battle, with a lot of fire and blood. It’s not excessively graphic, but it’s definitely PG-13, and blood will be involved. The two characters are Arsien, a young man sent to the army by his father, and Elenxes, a young warlord with a dangerous power. Visually, it’s a dark and grimy setting, and there’s not much light or clarity. There won’t be much in the way of romance in this, but there will be tension and interest.
It won’t be paid, and I’m looking for a collaboration. It’ll be about ten pages or so, but if you’re interested in continuing we can discuss that. You’ll get half the credit, and can repost it elsewhere if you’d like, so long as you ask me. I retain intellectual rights and the freedom to publish/write the story as I wish.
I’m looking for someone skilled enough to draw a chaotic battle scene, with intricate armor and weapons. I’ll send a few references as well, along with an art piece of mine that captures a lot of the feel of the piece. Skill with anatomy, things like muscles and bone, is appreciated. There will be a dragon, so experience with flying creatures is a plus. Horses won’t be present, so there’s that. I might want a few panels of a city, but there won’t be too many details. Character art-wise, I’m wanting something like a manga or at least not ‘cute’, if that makes sense. Color may be present, or I might restrain it to fire and blood.
I plan on having ten or so pages made, and not much else. If you want to continue and expand on the story, as I mentioned earlier, then we can consider that. A deadline isn’t clear in my head, but it would be nice to get most of it drafted by the end of the month. Hopefully, it’ll be done by February, but that’s very tentative.
I can be contacted through PM on this site.
Thank you for your consideration! I look forward to working with you.
