I recently came back to these characters and decide to redesign their outfits to be more magical girl in a sense. No, I didn't do so based off the release of Kiana Khansmith's pilot: Pretty Please I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl(please go watch on Youtube of you haven't already, it's very charming and funny). That came out a month ago and I completely forgot I had a group of magical girls myself.

Initially when I was making this team, I want to stay on the creepier side of things, but this time around I realized either is fine, and that it doesn't really matter the direction I go in. The styles are different and the newer version is just a sketch. If you want to know more about the story, I am linking some previous posts. Just know that outside of what I've posted here and a general outline, there's really not much content

The other four I could take or leave in either incarnation, but I love her. ^^ The hair, the dress, the smoky effects; it all works~

Tbh I think the old designs look more unique and interesting. I especially like how the yellow one literally is a skeleton and feels very grim reapery. The new designs are good but I prefer the older ones.
Idk it depends on what their stories are and what the lore of their world is.

That's actually one of the issues I had with the original, as the skeleton girl is supposed represent just the skeleton and the "grim reaper" is supposed to be the girl in the middle. I agree that it's a cool idea to have one of them turn into a literal skeleton! But, this is something I can always come back to, anyway.

The old one is better for death-related monster girl transformation idea, while the new one is better at showing they are magical girl team with more details in common. Though it appears the death-concept is lost , and the ankle accessory looks like imprisoning ball-and-chains (?)

I think it would be cool to see the monster girls with more magical team outfits.
Perhaps with more death-related details in common so it's easier to see they are sided to balance death.

I drew a random monster girl team for example (and also because your magical-girl idea is so fun ). They are a color-coded egyptian corpse, vampire, and headless spirit with repeating skull pattern and rectangluar black stone (with death rites).

Exactly right! I got some of my inspo from Monster High and I noticed all, if not almost all, of their ghost characters had ball and chains or just chains as a part of the character designs, which I thought was cool. I thought it was historically related to execution, but I may have just a recent phenomena to associated ghosts and chains.
