Well... I believe that anime/manga art is actually pretty common, at least in art/webcomic spaces and they are pretty accessible if you ask me, I don't think peeps have no spaces to share their work or require to give the middle finger to everyone who belittled them...
Is true that manga just means comic book, is just a different style in a different culture, but it is still sequential art accompanied of text (or without it, silent comics of course)
What I have seen is that most of the time, there is people who believe that they are being told to "totally drop" anime style, but to don't close yourself solely to it and ignore all other kinds of styles, methods, movements especially if you're in a Career/Bachelor oriented to Arts
With that aside, I have been drawing in anime style for over a decade now. I draw for 3 webcomics, (one is to be published tho) and I've also did the Cover Art for a few novels here on Tapas.
