Mangania: anyone there?

So I received an invitation from a new comic website called Mangania (I saw @Zelkats being there too).
It seems like it's mostly directed towards Japanese speakers with the possibility of translating into other languages and group work.

Do you guys know this site? What are your thoughts? Do you think it's worth having a mirror there?

I got the invitation too, though I don't know why. I tried to sign up there and made a profile but I don't really understand it either. Now I got a notification I received "a good" from somebody but I don't know what's that and what I should do with it >_<

If there is somebody who actually knows the site, I would like to learn more too!

Hahaha! I just tried uploading my old comic and they displayed it as a manga right-to-left!

I mean, their reader page is great, you can even navigate with arrow keys! But... considering you can choose from so many languages, they could add an option to read left-to-right...
Hope they add it soon, it seems like a nice platform.

The Japanese version of this site makes a bit more sense. The Engrish translation is not so great, but I'm excited about this! I've been looking for somewhere to post a Japanese translation of my series Godspeed.

I still have problems uploading... Some engrish errors keep popping out x_x so confused...

I first clicked "Make a new product" which I guess created the folder for the series. Then I added pages through "Post a manuscript"> "Image"> "Manga". Zip upload didn't work for me though, I uploaded each page separately. After you upload the pages and filled the fields, click "Save Draft" and then it will let you "Associate a published product" (or something like that) where you will choose the series created in the previous step.
... Though I could have done it totally wrong, but it worked in the end

Yeah and don't bother uploading vertical episodes, it doesn't eat them. Only as an Illustration associated with a series but it still expands the picture as it wants...

Yeah, it's a bummer... I noticed that vertical strips work well when uploaded as illustrations, but when I put the same strip as a manga page I can't zoom in the same way : /

Yeah, that's a pity. I hope they add vertical comics in the future.

But their book-like reader is amazing, just what I wished Tapastic would once have!

If you find how to make it read left-to-right or how to give the staff there a feedback about it, please tell me.

It's probably just something like your fb 'like', no? Or maybe it has something to do with where your profile appears in the authors' list? Dunno

I didn't get an invitation... which might be for the best, since I actually dislike book-like display formats for digital. My eyes have to travel in an awkward manner, I feel. They cry out to me: "we came all the way down to the bottom of the page, and we gotta go BACK UP? WHAT NONSENSE IS THIS???"

It doesn't happen when I'm reading a physical book. The binding in the center, the slight difference in the angles of the page (for books that don't lie flat, which is usually the case for comics)... they all work like a silent cue for my brain, making it natural to go to the top of the next page.

I asked them about the left-to-right manga reader/viewer and they replied that they are indeed planning it but couldn't tell when exactly it will be launched!
YAY! Can't wait!

(From the mail they seem nice and enthusiastic, not like LINE Webtoons where you get an automatic reply "Thank you for your interest, please read our faq, blah blah..." with "Replies to this email address are not monitored" when you ask them about something that's not in their faq... Oh yeah, and the Mangania person's English was good, as far as I can tell, not like their website and VERY not like Line's communication English! )

@keii4ii Well, I personally like that book-like reader, though you're right they could at least add something like optional gutter shade to show it's really 2 pages and to stop the eyes from moving onto the next page too soon.

When I first read this thread, I read "mangania" as "man-gina".

I signed up, but I haven't posted my comic there yet, and probably won't until they implement a left to right reader. Maybe this will motivate me into trying to translate my comic into Japanese. I can probably recruit a native speaking proofreader there in return for translating their work into English.

Never even heard of that one! Is it just like another Tapastic-esque place? Hm, well...I might wait until they allow left to right reading before I bother with it.
