Well you see, that's where the uncertainty about what exactly is "mature", in terms of Tapas' guidelines muddies the water, so to speak. There is freedom in telling stories like that as long as violence isn't there for violence's sake – at least as far as I understand the guidelines. And that is more than other sites can say for themselves for sure.
The thing is... If we tackle depression, drug abuse, murder, violence, child abuse etc., we have to tag the story (or episodes therein) as "mature". Which means that, under Apple's latest scrutiny, these stories can and will get flagged. And then they vanish from the app.
That's why my hope after the announcement for a Mature Section was that Tapas would include stories that suffer from these flags. As of now, that doesn't seem to be the case, and there also doesn't seem to be a good counter-measure yet. Allowing users to tag their story "mature" and then allowing for these stories to be automatically moved into a (free) Mature Section in the web version would help visibility quite a lot (including the suggested links in the app).
That clearly isn't your aim with this Mature Section, though, and I get why that is the case. The disappointment about it is still tangible, however. So maybe you (meaning the whole team) will reconsider an open Mature Section or something similar? It feels alienating to be swept under the rug all the time when you're neither "family friendly" nor an erotica author.
