I feel silly for having to ask this, it's probably something really simple that I'm just missing somehow.

Scroll down on the upload page and you'll see a box called description, if you write in it and update/post your episode, it'll appear as the author comment!
Okay, thank you!! I thought that was it, but when I hit "Preview," it never showed up. So it just doesn't appear at all until the comic has been posted? Go figure!
Anyway, thank you, I knew it would be something simple!
I don't think it does in the preview, but if it's not appearing at all once you've uploaded your episode, maybe the new layout is glitching; if that's the case, there's a thread to report bugs here: https://forums.tapas.io/t/website-updates-and-collecting-feedback/41632
