I like it when two people who hate each other eventually become friends/lovers. Not in the stupid way, where they're absolute jerks to each other until sexual attraction takes over, but in a way that makes sense: they help each other and learn to trust each other until, one day, they realize the hatred isn't there anymore.

Hmm time loops, mc is older but stuck in body of a child, redemption, shocking betrayals, op mc, training montage and hard working mc, dark vagabond with bad past, desperate needy once-sided romance, violent uncontrollable anger that destroys the enemy, and other angsty stuff . . . kinda embarrassing lol

This might not be totally related to what you're saying, but I do love me some coded gay villains (I'm lookin' at you, Disney). It is such the cliche, though it'd be great if more villains could be outwardly LGBT+ without their villainy and sexuality/gender identity being inherently tied together. It can be done, people! (I hope lol) Also, they should maybe not come off as predatory either? That might be nice? I guess it depends on the story...

But like, let's say the Evil Empress could just happen to have an equally evil GF by her side, nbd. She doesn't wanna seduce her ex-stepdaughter, aka. the chosen hero/rightful heir to the throne. That is creepy and also she is so not her type, and she already has an awesome evil GF, hello! xD

And it would help if in this same hypothetical story there were some equally not-cis/straight heroes and side characters. Because it is 2018 and we should have LGBT+ villains AND heroes and whatever the heck else, goshdarnit.

I'm a big fan of "everyone lives and is happy" endings, even when it seems a little cheap or unfitting. I just wanna see everyone live and be happy dangit I don't care if it's an unsatisfactory ending, it's satisfying to me!!

I also like it when people with relationships to the MC, like parents, siblings, friends, etc, who are previously uninvolved in the plot suddenly do become involved, even if they don't have any secret powers. We need more parents supporting their super powered kids lol. Or more generally, just showing that someone without powers/plot devices or anything are still capable of providing real support to those that do.

Hmmm, I have two that are kind of related, but different in a major way. They are essentially what I call part of the "Big Daddy" trope (BioShock can be thanked for that name).

1/2) the mama bear kind of parent (I have a habit of making it the father) that is super protective of their children and can go from giving their child a piece of cake to smashing a creepy stalker's face into a brick wall, then back to comfort the crying child in about five minutes.

2/2) a small child (usually a girl) that loves soft toys and all kinds of animals, and always has a smile, but will essentially f*** you up if she is made angry. She is short, cute and has a power that others fear and antagonists want.

I do feel this is kind of specific trope compared to some, but that combination has been used in a few things I'm working on that I really enjoy to write.

I LOVE the snarky, intelligent, sarcastic kind of characters. Someone like Han Solo from StarWars, i think the general idea is described as "the trickster" in TV tropes: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheTrickster
I like the general badass character and every trope that comes with them, the long coats, the "tough on the outside but caring and friendly on the inside" and that sorta stuff
I like the edgy, dark and gritty reboot or continuation too, more ironically than anything but it has brought good things before.

Older characters. People who aren't necessary looking for a sexual relationship but the kind of relationship that comes with friendship/companionship. With great back stories.

Living on the edge of town, quiet and polite, who once travelled the world and rubbed shoulders with the stars.
Lives with three cats and willing to take in another because the neighbour next door is being kicked out of their apartment. Take the neighbour in too because they're a good cook.
Drives across the country influencing other peoples live, while trying to find meaning to their own.
Discovers the now adult child that never had and embarks on a journey make up for lost time.
Reunited with old school friend and reminisces about almost romances and why they never dated.
Shop owner sells everything without their family knowing and flies to an exotic destination to deal with their midlife crisis. Only to discover the thing missing in their life is their family.
Couple begins retirement and finds they can't stand being with each other.

I love heelface turns and face-heel turns! I know I mentioned this in the other discussion, but I in general, I am not very fond of stories with black and white morality. Coupled with this trope, however, I can definitely stand it! I just love seeing characters who live by a particular set of ideals get pushed past a certain point where it's no longer viable for them to hold on to such ideals and instead have to switch to a side they used to loathe. LMAO I sound terrible.

I love quest fantasies, where the characters have to travel the world in order to find the piece of jewelry/fight the bad guy/whatever. I also love the "mon" series -- any story in which the characters collect, evolve, and battle monsters. Combine the two, as in Digimon Adventure, and you've got perfection.

Okay, not sure if some of these count as 'tropes', but

• Casts of characters that include people of varying ages instead of just all teenagers
• Well-executed plot twists of any kind
• Unreasonably competent and energetic characters
• Characters with a childlike-yet-actually-mature personality
• Characters whose motivation you don't know and who can't be easily categorized as a 'good guy' or 'bad guy'
• Non-human characters with enough intelligence and/or human-like characteristics that you can kind of relate to them, but which aren't totally anthropomorphized (e.g. Totoro, No-Face)

I'm such a sucker for one character gets hurt and another has to heal/treat their injuries as romantic plot device, especially when the healer gets angry at the other for getting injured in first place. Also friends or lovers with opposing themes (upbeat vs. grumpy, shy vs. outgoing, goth vs pastels, archer vs. sword fighter etc.)
I also love characters who learn to grow into their "predestined" position/function/profession (like Aang and Zuko in atla)
Quest plots are nice, too, especially when the crew is collected along the way. Also court drama and intrigues haha

1) Characters thar put on a facade to survive in a special envoirment because otherwise it would turn out pretty bad for them. Mostly a bad facade like "The stupid but actually smart" "The public playboy but virgin af" "The richest guy in town being a secret thief to provide living for his family" (So basically the misdirection lol)

2) SASSY CHARACTERS, those smartasses with a sharp tongue always making edgy or inappropriate humor even in situations where "dude, nobody asked you" and still they just tell the truth in a very sarcastic way without never resulting dumb.

3) Two characters hating each others at first, or maybe one can't bring himself/herself to trust the other for some reason (maybe because of a trauma) and this person is ACTUALLY trying to manipulate-lie to him/her (so yeah pretty unlucky for the other one) but in the end the one with bad intentions falls in love with the wary one after hearing his/her past and try to help that part, who recognize it and starts to fall in love too then BAM big reveal, the bad intentions come to light from an external source, drama happens, but happy ending cause he/she prooved her/his true feeling to the wary one

4) When characters see each other's naked at their first meeting XDDD kinda shallow but still funny to see around

Bittersweet endings, sad endings, or scary endings-

I feel like endings where every mystery and conflict is solved don’t really leave much of an impact on people. I especially like bittersweet endings with a tinge of sadness :))
