Movies with a bad rating that you liked?

Yeah so, over the years, I realised that either I have a thing for bad movies (or bad taste lol), or that critics are just not in the same wavelength with actual audiences.

The best example of this I can think of is "Linhas de Sangue".
The movie, from what I could gather, had a budget of 500€ and made more than 70,000€, but the reviews are, mainly abysmal.
But I still enjoyed it a lot. The whole movie just loud, fast, and wild, it was just a couple of hours of turning my brain off and having fun and stuff. IDK.

How about you all? Are there any movies out there you liked even though they had a bad score?

Venom and Venom 2 were both bad movies that I really enjoyed. I can only describe Ghost Rider and Doom (2005) as ASCENDED.

When you get to the Doomcam following Karl Urban like an actual FPS game, my friend and I could not stopping laughing like hyenas over how ridiculous it got.

I've never seen Linhas de Sangue, but its promo pictures look campy and fun .

Jennifer's Body. The movie bombed due to bad marketing, and honestly, a lot of misogyny at the time. It's actually thoughtful, hilariously written, and campy fun. I still quote it till this day. Glad it's having a bit of a resurgence.

I know most people think the live-action Cat in the Hat is unwatchable, but personally I find the film to be hilarious is sort of a dark twisted way. It sort of feels like a dark adult comedy with a weird surreal twist. Not saying it's amazing but it is definitely my guilty pleasure.

The Lego Movie 2 is also a pretty fun watch and I am not sure why people didn't like it.

I honestly really enjoyed Pixels. Yeah, the plot is kinda wierd, but I honestly found it to be really funny! And while it doesn't seem to be the most hated film, I do wish it got some more love.

Also, if anyone can tell me why every review I've seen for this just hates Kevin James playing the president, please tell me, cause I cannot for the life of me understand why everyone seems to hate it.

Independence Day: Resurgence and Moonfall. They're so dumb but I love them. And I love that the director full on embraces the epic cheese.

There are probably many but I just rewatched High Spirits with my boyfriend and... He found it boring and thought it was a kids movie but vulgar. It's not the first time that it happens.
High Spirits doesn't have good scores, still I like it. I think it's easy to watch, funny and I really like some scenes. Love is very simplified but it's just a tool for the plot.
Peter Plunkett, the owner of the castle, is my favourite character. Very cynical and always with a rope in his hand.

Edit: bf just said that High Spirits made him rethink his rating of Cool World (another movie/cartoon considered bad) for the better.

We were looking at the worst Christmas movies list the last holidays... There is just no way "Jingle All the Way" is a worse movie than the "Star Wars Holiday Special". There's a reason George Lucus tried to destroy every copy... and "Jingle all the way", while not great cinema, knew what it was.. which was just ridiculous, silly, fun.

There's A LOT of movies back in the day that get bad ratings yet are really, really good.

Ebirah, the Horror of the Deep is probably my favorite Godzilla movie, yet it has a 5.5 on IMDB. It has one of the most memorable character in the entire franchise: a con-artist who helps take down a nuclear facility. I wanna compare it to Die Hard where it's just a bunch of average people who use their wits to save the day.

Apparently it was going to be a King Kong film which makes sense since Godzilla is a bit of a ladies man here. It's short and to the point. Everything is tightly written and every character has a purpose.

Even if the monster is just a crab and not anything creative, I love how the villains USE it. Also the soundtrack is probably the most creative out of the entire franchise. Just rock music you'd find at the beach.

Ebirah, Horror of the Deep helped me realize that not every entry HAS to say something thought-provoking like the previous entries (the original Godzilla vs. King Kong even had something to say) and I respect that. Go check it out.

@sable40k Also yeah. I remember having fun with the first Venom. It's like a bad 90's comic translated on screen which I'm actually fine with??? I was bummed out Morbius didn't take that direction.

edit The major criticism about the boring senate scene..its 4 minutes...in a 2 hour 15 minute movie. Always seemed nitpicky to me.
Recently obtained a 35mm print scan of the theatrical version and it looks gorgeous...plus the CG blends really well from the negative scan.

The original 'Clash of the Titans' will always have my heart (it's Ray Harryhausen after all) but both the remake 'Clash of the Titans' and it's sequel 'Wrath of the Titans' are totally unappreciated fun films
