Community picks are typically nominated by people from the forums on a thread.
Staff picks are picked out by the Tapas staff.

How does that work, and where are the comics nominated in the forum?

Currently, there's a special thread every month or two where you can nominate ONE comic or novel (that hasn't been community pick before). Anyone can participate, but the thread is closed after a certain number of nominations. The staff then showcase comics and novels from the selections.
