Hello I'm Kaz-sensei and I will soon be releasing and serializing my novel here on tapas. This is my first time writing on tapas and I was wondering what time PST, would be the best to release? I have already completed the entirety of the first volume and have began the second with good progress so this question naturally wandered inside of my head.

To give you a bit more information so you can give me the most accurate time, look at the list below and recommend your times, it will be greatly appreciated.

  • Releases every Friday
  • Fantasy Genre
  • Five chapters a week are scheduled

Thank you for reading and have a great day / night!!

I honestly think any time is fine as long as you post around the same time (eg. 1 pm every Friday). I know some people say it's best to post around 12-5am PST (basically early morning) so that most of your readers are able to catch your update. If that helps.

As for posting five chapters a week. Are you posting them all on Friday because most here do 1 chapter a week, 2-3 pushing it. You could try spreading it if you upload them all on one day (granted you upload 5 chapters every Friday). But that's up to the creator I guess.

Thank you for the advice and the reason I'm thinking of releasing all chapters on a single day is because I feel I can captivate more people that way. I know that when I'm invested in a story I don't like waiting, so me doing this on a single day allows for smoother continuation of the story I guess. Plus it most conveniently adds up from me in terms of chapter counts giving me enough time to expand my catalogue of chapters.

Anyway, thank you for replying and have a good day / night!!

There is certainly merit in releasing at least 3 parts on the debut - that gets the reader far enough into the story to get invested. But, five chapters per week creates problems you might not be aware of.

So, take a look at mine: https://tapas.io/series/ReApotheosis/info

What you're going to see as of episode 11 there are the occasional chapters that were long enough to need to be divided into two parts. And, without exception, there is a drop-off of views from one part to the other. The worst was the first, where I didn't realize that when you posted the chapter onto social media you really need to post links to both parts, but even after that there is always a drop-off.

It is always going to be harder to get people to read the second "episode" in a day than it is to get them to read the first. And, all things being equal, this trend can be expected to continue. So, you will get far more total views per chapter over time if they are released one per week than if you release multiple in a day.

Thank you for this advice. I will try experimenting with how I release the chapters.

Have a good day/night

I'm quite late on this thread, but I personally schedule my episodes to release 6:00 AM PST. It doesn't get a bad result, but since I upload daily, its time also because I often don't have enough time to finish my episodes by 5:00 AM PST. Hope this helps.
