National Superhero Day Promotion Thread

For those of you who don't know, today (April 28th) is National Superhero Day. So, I decided to celebrate by hosting a promo thread.

The rules are simple. All you have to do is share your favorite superhero or superhero movie (images are optional), why you like that character or movie, and then you can link your series.

Tapas & Webtoon series are allowed, and so are novels if you have any. If you don't have a series, you could still participate if you wanted.

I'll start. My favorite superhero is Spider-Man. Kinda generic I admit, but he's my favorite nonetheless. He was the first superhero I got introduced to, and I always found him so relatable in some aspects.

I don't have a favorite, but the superheroes in my novel are pretty awesome:

Captain Luminary, Blue Phoenix, Twilight Dragon, Malachite-Man, Revamp, Chromelander, Velocinox, and the anti-hero Midnight Rose.

My favourite superhero is Squirrel Girl. I know she's a joke hero, but I like the fact that her power is just "squirrel but big."
I also like Deadpool, because he's slightly tongue in cheek too.

Spidey is already represented so I'm gonna go with.... Ms Marvel, Kamala Khan!

She's got an awesome iconic costume, a great catchphrase "EMBIGGEN!", she's funny, cares about contemporary issues and she's just generally really fresh. She's also Pakistani and raised muslim like my partner, which is rad.

My series is... superhero adjacent. I'm a bit of a Marvel fan (especially X-Men) so there's inevitably some influence there.

My favorite is The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. She's kind of a weirdo, which I can appreciate, like her sense of humor is brash and corny and often just for her own sake and I love that. I also like her stocky muscular build and short hair, it's not something you see is a lot of female heroes. She also has this bazaar passive aggressive thing against Iron Man which I find very funny. Also her sidekick is a squirrel names tippy toe. She often reforms more heavy duty villains, but with petty criminals she has a habit of just... throwing them. Like she'll just throw them into the distance. She calls her butt her badonk. I love her so much.

Favorite superhero movie: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse or Watchmen
Favorite superhero series: The Boys
Favorite superhero book: Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
Favorite super character: Loki I think though if he's not considered as a hero, then Saitama from OPM

My favorite: Spiderman
I idolize: Iron Man (the MCU version)

Watching Iron Man in fifth grade is literally the only thing that had driven me to pursue science seriously.

I totally recommend!!

It's a dystopian fantasy about the superhero concept and very well written. Still, not the best book of Sanderson but amazing anyway :D.

My favorite hero is Joke-of-a-Man, Booster Gold!

I had a crush on Nightcrawler in college. Also a fan of Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

I actually draw a superhero comic, and I've been debating whether to upload it here. It's my OCs in an existing IP, though (City of Heroes, fwiw), and I wasn't sure what the rules were for that. Or, frankly, which genre(s) to post superhero content under. There's not really a 'superhero' section as such.

Its hard to pick like, one superhero for me since I have so many that I've enjoyed.

I'd say my top favorite superhero to date is Spider man as well as Invincible and Static Shock. I like heroes that develop a sense of humility and humanity in their personalities.

My main lead Star Boy is loosely based off the 90's rendition of Super Boy and Spider Man, so he's like a fusion of those two!

For me, it's definitely Captain America. I'd be lying if I said that the first Captain America movie didn't do a lot as far as inspiring my own ww2 superhero comic.

It's really hard to narrow down who I like since there are so many. But I were to narrow it down, it would have to be Captain America. Especially the movie version of him. I working class stiff that gets a chance to do some good in the world always draws me in.

Honestly, I'd say give it a shot. People make comics and whatnot based on D&D, so I don't see much of an issue making one based on City of Heroes. As for the genre, I'd say you can mainly put it under Action and figure out the rest from there.

But yeah, I'd say maybe give it a try.
