Need advice for my comic idea

I've only been here since August and I figured that it was about time to start putting together a comic. I've thought of a couple ideas but I don't know how I can make any of them work for one reason or another.
I had this idea for a fantasy comic that I have been working on for a while, however, I don't know if I could present it the way I always imagined it because I am still not good at digital art. (Also since it is fantasy the setting will need a lot of details and I am terrible at drawing backgrounds.)
Should I still go ahead and make the comic?

Honestly? Go for it. I learned so much about all different aspects of digital art from making my comic. My art has hugely improved from it. Seek out tutorials on tumblr, pinterest, and deviantart, and look for inspiration in how other artists do things. Specifically for backgrounds, give Bicycle Boy a look. I always get really pumped to work on backgrounds after seeing theirs.

What I've learned over time is that you will never feel "ready" to start a project, no matter where you are with your art. You'll just keep putting it off until you feel you've hit this specific point of mastery but that point is illusory because we as artists are going to be improving our entire lives. If you start now, it might not be perfect, but it will give you the opportunity to improve and get it to where you want it to be--you'll be practicing by DOING. Then the next time you do a project, you'll be even more prepared.

We do things so we can learn, how else can you learn if you don't do it?

I spent a long time never making anything because I was worried about screwing it up.
Finally, I got sick of the not-doing and sat down and made Knights In Shining Armor. And totally screwed it up. It's now been taken down, but I plan on redoing it all someday. But that was my first step towards making newer, better stuff, and just getting brave enough to put anything on the web at all.
So yes! Please put one together.

A lot of people have touched upon just diving in... and I agree, just do it!
We learn by doing! Before working on my current comic, I spent years trying to get another idea off the ground. I learned a lot even if that comic didn't leave the drawing board, but the research I did provided me with inspiration with my current comic. The time spent will only help you improve!

Go and do it! comics do wonders for practice since it forces you to leave your comfort zone and draw complex angles and shots. I hate drawing backgrounds and used to be all kinds of awful with it and working on my comic(s) have helped me so much. here's one from around this time last year vs my most recent update, the current chapter contains a reworked segment from a tournament i joined last year so there's a few redrawn panels.

Go for it! Always remember, art is a way of life. Grow with your story and characters! And basing from my experience you"ll pretty much improve faster (especially in BG) when your doing comics, just keep at it you"ll see what i mean.^u^

Everyone has to start sooner or later and if you keep hesitating you will never do it so, as it has been said by previous posts, you should make the comic. Also by publishing your comic you can get some feedback that will let you know if you really need to improve too much or you are overthinking a bit.
What I would say is that you finish what you start. It will be better, and more motivating, starting with small stories and finish them than starting a long story that will be left at the middle (this is not actually my advice, I read it somewhere time ago but I think it's a good recommendation). Although I may not be the most indicated to give you advice as I'm in a similar situation as you.
