This one reminds me of the Max Steel reboot that was on Disney XD (and had a movie no one talks about). I'm not even mad about this one, but sometimes I wish we got a third season of the 2002 series... I wanted to know what He-Man needed to get for The Sorceress once he started climbing the mountain. As a kid, it always upset me that we never got that conclusion.

Oh well... if anything, this may just wash the bad taste of the Kevin Smith series out of my mouth. I don't even want to see Part 2 of REVELATIONS because I know that what I would love to happen just won't. And my headcanon/theory included classic She-Ra, He-Man's twin sister, as a primary character for that. But, nah...

This one looks like it is targeted at the 7-10 year old crowd that would be interested in He-Man toys. I am not sure how I feel about it, going scifi is a strange direction for the brand. It sort of looks like a cut scene for a PvP or mobile game. But if that is what little kids want, who am I to judge.

Remember when we saw the first trailer of masters of the universe and it is all about He-man, and later on, the second trailer reveals that this is going to be about Teela, and Kevin Smith keeps giving us false news.

I'm going to wait and see if we didn't fell into another trap.

I mean can it truly be worse then masters of the universe? XD everyone I know dropped it after the first ep cause they made our babe Skeletor an absolute bitch. You'd think companies would learn to stop making their villians annoying little shits after the backlash with both lex luthor and joker in the DCU

My partner and I watched the first episode of the recent one, and it was absolutely atrocious. I'd have been perfectly fine following a different character until Adam was inevitably revived, that's fine - but it was so badly written.

The bit which got me was after Teela had just heard the explanation of how the universe would end if she doesn't intervene, and her response was basically "I won't help because I swore off this rubbish, screw the universe." And she was only compelled by a "What would Adam want you to do?" speech.

That's no hero. That's a selfish, overgrown juvenile who only cares about themselves. Dropped it then and there.

I hope this one is better...

Well, the age of selling physical toys is slowly going away now, isn't it? The best idea for making real money in today's world is to make them want to buy the skin in Fortnite no? I assume they make money if their "property" is sold as skins in fortnite?

So a smart move targeting their audience and looking to generate sales.

Even though I see, and get what you mean, I do have an honest question.

Since when is the main character supposed to be a hero, or perfect, from the start? I thought the whole point was to have imperfect characters, riddled with flaws that grow and learn throughout the series.

Her being:

is the definition of a character with faults that needs to grow and mature. Isn't it? Or am I missing something else here?

I saw a few people complain about this, and I am just curious as to why.
Also, on her being inspired by Adam. Isn't that her being inspired by a hero to do the right thing? Isn't that what heroes ultimately do? Inspire?

I did have certain issues with the show, and there was stuff I didn't like, but I never understood why people are complaining about characters having flaws and not being good. I thought that was the whole point of a story.

Is it that her actions make her so unlikeable that people can't get behind her eventually becoming a better person? Or, asI said earlier, am I missing something here?

This looked interesting to me and I don't mind the art style. I am probably not the audience they had in mind, but it kind of reminds me of troll hunter, so I will be checking it out for sure. Maybe it will be entertaining

I don't mind characters who have flaws, at all. But there were a few things which made the writing here terrible:

• Teela would have been in her late 20's, or even early 30's after the time skip. That should old enough to hear the message 'the universe will be destroyed if you don't do something' and not behave in an utterly juvenile manner. Especially a character with military training, and the discipline that comes with it. You can show reluctance and an inner conflict between freedom/duty without resorting to such a juvenile reaction.
• Had she been told "You have a DUTY to protect the people of Eternia," and that was what changed her mind, I'd have responded very positively to that. A soldier who has turned from her duty, and has to reluctantly re-engage with it, is a compelling story. But instead, the only thing which worked was a personal and selfish appeal. It shouldn't matter what Adam would have wanted her to do.
• On that note, she was a guardswoman before the time skip. Presumably, duty would have been something deeply instilled in her.

The writing as a whole was just horrible. It's not just Teela. I wanted to like her, and I wanted this series to be good. This series was evidently pitched at an adult audience, not kids, so I expected a quality of writing which reflected the maturity of that target audience. I went in blind, so my reaction isn't coloured by internet culture war nonsense. I'm just a writer, grouching about how the writing in something I was looking forward to was shallow and shitty.

The moment with Teela prioritising her feelings over the fate of all Eternia was just the final nail in the coffin for me. I thought it was narcissistic drivel, and I hated it.

That does make perfect sense actually and I understand it better now. Thank you for explaining.

I do agree that her acting so is not in line with the character's past and that is just convenient/bad writing on the writers part.

What really annoyed me was how they handled the whole scene with her biggest fear. That had so much potential and they did it so badly I was annoyed at that. It was so bad.

I do agree the writing for the entire show is really low quality, especially when it was supposedly aimed at an adult audience. I still plan on watching the second part, I just want to see what they will try and do with it in the second part.
