Sexual Violence is a complete difference and a 100% stand-a-lone category in my book.

I would change 'Cursing/Profanity' to 'Slurs and Pejoratives' since I don't believe people should have to tag mature for having general swear words like f*ck in their episode.

Sexual content and nudity should be a separated category from sexual violence....

Despite both being sexual in nature, it's context is quite the opposite. One is consensual while the other isn't.

This could lead to 2 scenarions:

People who are not comfortable with rape-related content avoiding all sexual scenes.

Or that same people ending up witnessing triggering content due to vagueness in the categories.

My perception only, but I think you're just trying to create categories based on app restrictions. If so, why not make it clear and explain to people what's ok and what is not for app standards, instead of making this dumpsterfire of categories ._.

So far I have:

1 - remove "Sexual Violence" from "Sexual Content and Nudity, sexual violence"
2 - add "Sexual Violence" as its own option.
3 - Remove the word "Issues" from Mental Health

Joanne, I'm disagreeing on the cursing, as for some creators and readers this is actually a concern.

They’re the ones that decided the categories were necessary in the first place. Prior t this, people would mark it mature as necessary and put up their own trigger warnings. Putting groupings that are stigmatizing and potentially triggering us making it worse.

I personaly think making nudity a inherently sexual thing is illogical and dangerous but at this point this it is a lesser worry. Let's at least get the sexual violence its own category (or at least separated from consensual sex).

It's unfortunate that this is your perception. Our old mature filter system hid series behind a notification wall without telling readers the reason for the filter. The episode could contain extreme violence, or a curse word. With that, it made the filter nearly useless to readers and creators - an update was long overdue and necessary.

With all respect. And this comes from a happy “jens” that always back up what tapas does.

This one you HAVE to change ASAP

I have the same fears that Azifri.
I see the point of more precise warnings, but what tell us it won't be used for app restrictions now or later? It would be almost odd from Tapas point of view to NOT use it.
This is what is worrying.

I would also suggest
Physical Violence get separated from Physical Abuse and Emotional abuse.

Possibly also add a qualifier to Physical Violence like Gore or Dismemberment, because some fight scenes aren't necessarily graphic like that. I have a lot of action fighting in my comic, but it never crosses into R rated territory, I wouldn't want to be forced into tagging my series as mature, when it could be on Tv as a TV PG rating.

(Tagging just in case it gets buried @ratique)

Oh yes, an update was long overdue, but as many have pointed out above, grouping nudity and sexual violence doesn't make any sense. Same as considering "mental health issues" as a whole an issue: it really is stigmatizing. The fact that you decided to put together nudity, sexual content and sexual violence screams app regulations, so my perception comes mostly from that. If it's really an app thing, maybe you could indicate in a parenthesis after the description that this is necessary to know for the app or something like that.

No one is saying that this system is worst than the one we had before. Is an improvement, but not for that we should just be complacent and dismiss any feedback, specially on such an urgent point like the issue mentioned on this topic.

I know feedback is listened here, that is why topics like that exist and we are able to have a conversation. Maybe this was an unconsidered subtlety, but it was good it was noticed early so it could be fixed and not cause any trouble.

Having a few F-bombs (And some irish cursing) here and there in some episodes... I have to ask, do i also have to put the mature filter on those episodes ? Just so i know and will do it ASAP.

We already review all content that is on our site - if you have content that needs the mature filter or not, as long as your content follows app guidelines, it will stay on the app. It is against anybody's interest to remove series without reason.

It was grouped together for other reasons - I apologize that it's coming across as if this is going to be used against creators.

Curse words are a bit of a fringe issue - it really depends on your audience for this one. If you have younger readers that would be surprised by cursing, you should add it. If your audience skews older, it isn't necessary.

Perfect explanation!

Gotta second that. Violence is not neccesarily abusive. A war between soldiers is different than an alcoholic parent beating up their kid and/or guilt-tripping them.
