New Year 2019 - Artistic resolutions

• Improve anatomy. I'm so tired of not being able to draw certain things bc I'm not confident with the pose or angle of the character, it's so frustrating!
• Finish all the "Improvement challenges" I set for myself
• Finish more than 30 comic updates in 2019
• Be better organised with my story so that I stop making last minute changes to episodes.
• Get ahead with my buffer episodes.

I kinda do this too but nowhere near his level, he's like so amazing at it omg!
My finished lineart is pencil-like and I draw directly over my storyboard scribbles, part of it is getting better at linearting but also a huge part is being really familiar with my ocs due to how much I've drawn them, so your comic might actually start with more detailed base sketches that get gradually more and more simple over the years, at least that's what happened with me.

I want to get into digital art this year and get back into drawing. I doubt I'll ever do a comic instead of a novel, but I miss creating art.

I want improve my anatomy and facial expressions. And get to a point where I can sketch out panels faster, right now the sketch/storyboard part is my slowest part.

I also don't want to go on hiatus after my 2nd kiddo comes... that's probably a pipe dream tho, we'll see if I made enough buffer by then XD

and you could go for shorter updates to keep the schedule
it's usually better than a hiatus since the readers stay engaged ... even if the panel ratio is low

you could also change the schedule from e.g. weekly to every two weeks ... tho you've proabbaly already considered those

I don't want to be overly optimistic so my resolution will be 1080p.

Now seriously:

• Keep drawing my comic and ideally publish every week.
• Draw faster so I can have some buffer and more time to practise.

yeah I'm thinking of going to every other week or every 10 days schedule... not sure tho if I should start it earlier(Like now) and try to build up more buffer... decisions decisions.

i can only hope im able to accomplish any of my goals but in 2019 i want to:

• finally get back to work on my main comics and build at least a 2-5 page buffer for myself

• take time to flesh out some of the other story ideas I've been sitting on (actually started on one of them today)

• push myself more in working on the things i want to improve with in art like environments, backgrounds, dynamic posing and other stuff

• try out other styles? (my arts started to feel stale so i wonder if itd help)

• and participate in more art challenges and actually finish some this time

I have a few I guess
• be able to come up with creative drawings on my own
• improve my art style to a point where I'm satisfied with it
•get a lot better at execution when it comes to drawing panels
•and lastly, this sounds like a stretch (and it probably is) but I'd love to be able to make merch for my comic in the future, even if it's not next year, but once I'd have enough people who'd want it

0) Note to self: Don’t give up.
Comics take A LOT of time.
You can go slowly, very slowly.
Just don’t give up.

Priorities

1) Finish “Wanderlust” novel edition, draft
2) Launch “Wanderlust” comic edition (aka finish first two stories, with the two extras and intermissions)
3) Finish “Super Confuse” first arc, ‘Origin Story’

Lesser Priorities

4) Find an art style that I may be comfortable with for tukotn relaunch (not gonna happen this upcoming year and that’s okay, I shouldn’t rush this story)
5) Finish “Wanderlust” (comic edition) first four stories (half of the whole collection)
6) Finish “Wanderlust” (novel) second draft

Would be nice:

7) line art, just do it, try it
8) get back into watercolor painting, even if it’s just one piece, finish something

I was originally going to launch wanderlust (comic) as soon as I finish drawing the first two stories, but I thought it’d do me more good to just finish the novel version and then make the comic version. The stories I wanted to tell would be more efficiently told that way. Goodbye the few panels I already drew. I might reuse some of ya’ll if I can.

Let's see...

• complete my current short story, hopefully around spring.
• I've decided I want to keep experimenting before moving to a larger story, so i'd like to write and complete maybe 1-3 additional short(er) stories in the same universe
• I've started writing the larger series but it's been a slow go. I'd like to give that project the time it deserves this upcoming year and start stitching together the plot and beginning some concept art/character designs.
• I'm hoping to really take time to study and practice some of my weaknesses between projects. Things like gestures, better anatomy understanding, foreshortening, DRAWING PEOPLE IN PROFILE, etc.
• Drawing speed up is always a goal, of course, but I'd like to reach up towards 2-3 pages per week instead of 1-2
• along with the above point, the vid that @Rosso linked is like.... goals xD I'm also extremely jelly, but that's an awesome skill to keep developing @u@ a lot of my speed up this year came from omitting certain things from the penciling phase but I'm no where near that level lmao

Nothing wrong with aiming low, since aiming high can be stressful. It's good to set goals that are doable, so they don't become too much to handle.
