Well, you're right. I'm new here on Tapas coming from Wattpad, then Webnovel, both sites doesn't allow copy-paste. I was just surprised becauseTapas is I think a huge platform with many creators.

Internet is full of thieves, but the posting date is proof enough if that happens.
Besides, there're thieves IRL too, its more of an exposure problem. More exposure = more theft.

even if you publish your content on print people can still scan it or photograph it. Pretty much if people want to steal something they'll steal it. Not a whole lot you can do about it but report it when you see it.

That ultimately depends. If they're doing just share your work on other comic or novel sites that it's good that they're sharing. But they're just coping and pasting your work and say it's their's that not good.

Even though somehow sharing my book is good, I still feel like cheated on because I didn't know a whole hundred plus chapters of my book is published on other unknown sites despite crediting my pen name because I still prefer readers to read my book/works on my personal page.

Anyway, this was just me getting worried because I don't actually have the legal documents of copyright my book. And it's such a hassle to register it and quite expensive here in my country.

I did try to contact the website, but no response until now and I didn't know where to report

Nothing happened here, nobody wants to copy-paste it I guess.

Although I had an experience with sites that mirror my novel back in my Wattpad day, the sites are in Viet and are named something along the line of "Truyen" (there are multiple sites). It is baffling to see my barely noticeable novel which was written in my native language can end up mirrored like that, all my friends had their novels mirrored too; they are not selective. As far as I know you cannot directly copy-paste content from Wattpad. I wonder if they do that automatically with some utilisation of programming hacks, but this was like years ago and I don't know about the situation now.

While you can't directly copy from Wattpad or Webnovel, it doesn't mean people can't at all. I can say for sure that my stuff was mostly stolen from webnovel as evidenced by the author's notes which I vary by side. I haven't seen anybody steal it from Tapas at all since the day I started out here. So whether or not people can directly copy (And personally, I can't copy from Tapas? No idea how you did it.) doesn't say anything about the likelihood of the site being the source of piracy.

Oh so, not all can copy-paste here on tapas??! Why am I able to?? I accidentally long pressed on one of the novel I was reading and it gave me option to Copy, Search, and share. Anyway, I haven't had experience like this on Wattpad and Webnovel but ever since I started posting on Scribblehub, my book was copied, it was even translated to a different language. There are various sites who posted my book and there readers as well that rated it. I also know that it was being copied from scribblehub because the cover of the book was the same compared to Wattpad and I revised my book so many times and the one these sites uploaded was the old ones especially the summary. It was from when I didn't revised it.

Ever since I didn't post on Scribblehub anymore and transfer here on tapas so I was worried that we can also copy paste on Tapas.

Also I know my book is not copied from Wattpad since my book in Wattpad had different cover.

tried webnovel before too. it's so easy to get a lot of reads there, I'm surprised. but sadly, you can't delete your account which is a downside if you ever want to leave website entirely.

I guess so. The cover they copied was the one I put on Scribblehub and Webnovel because my readers in wattpad they liked the old cover the way it is so I didn't change it that's why I know they didn't took it from wattpad.

I don't think they would bother make a new cover and title, their site was to read free novels.

It's something I've learnt to live with. I cross-post to other websites (including my own) that allow copy and pasting. I wanted to set up my site so no one could copy and paste, but I don't know enough about programming to do it and didn't want to download another Wordpress extension. Apparently, you need to limit Wordpress extensions for security, I'd rather someone copy a chapter then lose access to a website I paid for.

If someone wants to steal it then go ahead I have plenty of proof it's mine, and they don't know my end game. Hell, I don't know my end game. I'd kind of even be okay with someone translating the free version of my stuff into a different language, it's not something I'd ever be able to do myself (seriously if you do this, please give me credit).
