It's weird because the "editor" said that it was an exclusive contract but that I would still be able to upload to other sites (like Tapas).

I get what you are saying. I am probably going to hard pass, but I wanted to see if anyone had any knowledge of this org. specifically or general info. Plus, creating this thread will hopefully help someone in the future!

Lol that makes no sense. It's exclusive but you can still post on other sites? That's a huge red flag, people from legit sites wouldn't make a mistake like that.

Unless it was a big name platform and I really trusted the site, I wouldn't sign an exclusive contract ever.

I saw your response to 'queentrashmuffin' and I wanted to Thank-You. I recently received a very similar message to theirs yesterday evening and I was questioning the same thing. I was told to email them for more information and a Sample Contract if I was interested. I tried to do my own research and came to a lost on what I wanted, so agian, Thank-You.

oh my god, i feel so stupid right now, i totally had responded to them after they reach out to me, but i didn't sign the contract it's just i did give some important informations, i'm so worried right now, i didn't do a thorough research about them. i did check their website but didn't scroll a lot, i didn't notice at all. i'm really worried, what should i do?

As long as you didn't give anything really personal like SSN or addresses I think you should be fine. Next time someone reaches out to you, you should immediately assume it's a scammer just to be on the safe side. Then you can look more into it after that.

The person I spoke to was really nice as well, even bringing in personal conversation about how we both liked the Untamed. I am not saying that NovelPotato is bad, maybe they are just new... but we also have to remember that the wolf in sheep's clothing is going to act like a sheep in order to get his meal. A cars salesman is going to be nice to sell you a car.

Bottom line is you have to be careful! <3

They contacted me on my Facebook author page, offering options of more or less exclusivity for more or less %.
These sites pop up all over the place.
I got contacted dozens of times on Wattpad. I really think that it's all one company, they just keep changing the name because once they get a bad rap, they have to.

I'd sooner self-publish than sell my rights to an unverified place like that.

The editor reaches out to me on Wattpad, I still remember how excited I was when an editor notices my story and since it's my first story and all, so I immediately responded to that person. And after a lot of exchanging messages and all, I think the person who reaches out to me was also nice. But, after getting some suspicious thoughts I didn't sign their contract. Now, they said they're partnering up with novelcat and one other stuff that I don't remember, and I did check out on the novelcat website, they did have been listed there. Hmmm..

i wouldnt tbh, i skimmed thru replies and if they said its exclusive but then said you can post it where ever you want.....
I cant remember which site it was but i do remember someone saying site reached out and scammed them, it probably isnt this one but better safe than sorry
