Tapas’ maximum character count per chapter is 15k. At an average of, say, 5 characters per word, that works out to about 3k words. 1000 words per update might be a bit light, unless you can fit a whole lot of story into that thousand words. Updating only a few paragraphs per chapter is about the same as posting only a single panel per update with a comic - it helps drag your series out longer, but at the expense of making your series drag. Readers may lose interest. Of course readers can lose interest if the updates are consistently long, too, especially if it feels like you’re just adding fluff to pad the word count.
My own stories typically go about 20k characters per update, and because that exceeds Tapas’ limit I break it into two “chapters”. When I do so I update both of them in the same week - part 1 on Monday, part 2 on Wednesday (and part 3 on Friday if it’s a really long one).
