34-year-old commercial driver from the Midwest here. I'm a former security guard and have a bachelors degree in CSI that's currently rotting on the shelf.

I can draw in anime style, buuuuut ... I can't even begin to figure out comic layout and whatnot. So when I make art, I add illustrations to my novels instead. My art is self-taught and decent, but I've been writing since I was ten, so that's how I prefer to tell my stories.

I'm working on a fantasy series, with the first book centered around a vampire and a hunter who begrudgingly join forces to take down a much worse vampire. The second book just released with chapter one today, and this one's more of a drama than the LGBTQ romance at the heart of the first installment.

To anyone who wants to read - start with book one. Book two will make much more sense that way.

I’m 27 and am an auditor who is sometimes really stressed out after looking at financial and IT documents all the time and needed an outlet to release my creative side. No big aspirations or anything I just really enjoyed Villainess stories and wanted to write one of my own. I found out that creative writing is way more complicated than a business report, and I need lots of practice haha.

I'm 32 years old. I work in Nagoya, Japan as an assistant English teacher. I've been drawing forever and time passes, I've come to grips with my mortality and the fact that (while I enjoy it) I don't want to do this job for the rest of my life.
I've been coming up with ideas for stories since high-school. The job in Nagoya doesn't require a much of my time as the other cities I've worked in, so I figured, it's now or never. "Our Sanctuary" doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the world in my head, but I think it's not half bad.

I'm still catching up on my reading, but I'll be sure to get to all of your works.

Damn kids today with their Instabooks and their Facegrams and their thirty-one flavors of Coke!

90's kid over here. Here's what I get up to:

I'm not comfortable revealing my exact age, but I'm definitely over 25. Was in the military for 6 years (Joined due to a lack of civilian employers willing to hire me.), quit due to moving too far out of town to be able to make the commute, now I'm training to work in a dental billing job. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, although I really took it on a serious hobby when I turned 11, been casually educating myself on it since. I have trouble with verbal communication so drawing was always my way of expressing thoughts and emotions, never had much of an interest in going to school for it since I don't want the one thing I've consistently enjoyed to turn into a job. Drawing is essentially my tool for venting, and helps give me something to focus on, so I hold a lot of personal value in being able to do it.

Other than that my major interests are in different sciences and such. I do a lot of casual research on pathology, biology, necropsy, psychology, anthropology, philosophy, geology and astronomy. Really, my comic is just an excuse to dig deeper into some of that stuff. I'm also a huge fan of horror and exploring disturbing media, been a fan of the former for about as long as I've been drawing thanks to my dad showed a horror movie to me when I was 3, I've always had an interest in it slice... hmmm... Oh yeah! Really weak for musicals, love that shit! Doesn't matter how terrible is, the high energy and/or songs always gets me pumped. Speaking of musicals, big music person, I'll listen to anything except modern country and I've collected about 9k songs on my computer since high school. I also somewhat know how to play the viola and piano thanks to lessons I had as a child, and can read sheet music.

When it comes to comics, I didn't get into reading them till I was 14, and only got into drawing them at about 20 because I didn't know how to animation. It wasn't my medium of choice, but I've gotten really into it with my current project, it gives me a way to explore and express emotions that I can't with illustration.

I'll drop my comic, but I don't recommend anyone checking it out if they're under the age of 17 (I'm sure kids are reading this thread.), and if you are not a fan of heavier topics like mental illness, abuse and trauma. This is very much a niche, uncomfortable comic that will probably come off as torture/tragedy porn to many.

Hey nice to meet you! I'm in my 30s! I've always enjoyed art and drew a lot in high school, but nothing serious. Then after college I took a long break from art to focus on my job(teaching math). But later I had kids and quit work to take care of them. I've always been into writing stories and loved reading comics and one day about 4 yrs ago realized I missed art and wanted to get back into it. So I bought a surface and got started rather impulsively making a comic. I actually just recently finished drawing that comic and it's last episode will publish in a couple months!

Now I'm working on a new comic. It's a bit of a campy horror comedy, I wanted a change of pace from my previous comic which was HS drama-romance

I'm turning 30 this year! I've been drawing and telling stories since I was a toddler but... Never made it public until the last few years (I shared a manuscript with some friends, and now am publishing my comic). My degree is in Biology and Physiology (which has mostly gotten used to navigate my inherited medical conditions) and I currently work at a library.

I have a lot of health issues, that I found out TODAY were due to an inherited metabolic problem. I have nerve pain and muscle weakness from this, and though I'm recovering and doing much better, I'm still limited with how much creative stuff I can do in a single day. I'm currently trying to figure out how to voice type, and then maybe I can get a bit more creative mileage. No drawing, but I could potentially write.

I have a huge interest in sci-fi and animation and character design, so a lot of my effort in my comic goes into that.

It's funny to see "old" and 25 together. I just turned 40 and thought I'd start making a comic strip a month because it's a pretty small commitment. Also a way to share a bunch of game of thrones inside jokes with others. Anyway, I'm excited to check out all these other comics from people who are just doing it for fun on the side. Cheers!

Late thirties, here. My day job is store manager for a mom-n-pop retail shop. I went to school for 2D animation, but never got the chance to use it thanks to a lot of life issues going on at the time. So now I'm attempting to make comics and write a couple books in what spare time I have in order to relax after working all day and dealing with humans. Because three or more projects going on at once is relaxing, apparently... I wish I had taken the opportunity during lockdown to start my comic (or be productive in any way, shape, or form), but I ended up spending that playing Mass Effect and Animal Crossing to detox from retail work.

I think no one in this thread is really "old" by now  We are all bloody young :hype_01:

I'm 27 and draw since I was a kid, no clue when I really begin. A few years back I started drawing webtoons. Before that I draw a few mangas and even wrote fanfics ( XD ) but was never really active online.
My boyfriend gave me the strength to upload my work and draw more. Since then I got more and more confident.
In my daily live I'm a programmer for online shops and have a dog <3 I try to draw as much as possible beneath the work, but it's sometimes really hard to manage. Also bc I want to visit friends and family, have time with my boyfriend and dog and just want to do some other hobbies, like gaming, sometimes.

My comic is "Grim Reaper in training". It had a good start with nearly 200 subs at the first day (2 years ago), but after that I just grow really slowly. Till last month I had 800 subs. I was really proud of me to get this much, but then webtoon set my comic on the start page and I just grew up to 3K subs. Thats overwhelming. On tapas I don't have that much audience. The start was hard and I barely get new followers here. But I try hard on both platforms :hype_01:

I'm 32 :raising_hand: I've always made up fictional stories or planned out novels when I was younger but now is my first time actually writing one. I also started writing fanfictions, mainly for improving my English when I moved to the UK for university.

When I was in uni studying biology, I realised how much I loved writing and thus became a medical writer, because I found it to be the best-paid writing job available to me. And now I'm here

Good thing I recently just turned 25. Glad to see so many older creator still aspiring to tell great stories!

Hi! I'm 26. I'm office worker but after hours I'm comic artist. I also love to do illustrations. I hope one day I'll become full-time artist
And here's my comic:

Hii! I'm all for the whole older creator thing :joy:
I'm 31 and I've started drawing my comic series this year in march. I created stories basically my whole life, but it took me a long time to realize, that I could actually do something with them. I worked on my drawing skills for many years to be more or less good enough to draw a comic and here it is!

It's called 'A Tale of Two Shadows', it's a slow burning LGBTQ+ crime thriller. Mature content warning, through!

Hey,

Im 37 and always been drawing and always been a bit to chicken to start my own comic. Ive been doing comic pages here and there throughout the years but rarely shown them publicly.

Always felt like there was more to learn before I could make my own comic - esp backgrounds but last year I just said fuck it and went with it haha

I also have an education in animation and been working mostly as game animator but also on 2D feature films but nowadays Im going back to an old interest of mine - horses - and is working in a stable!

I have way to many characters and stories but I got the idea for my ongoing comic somewhere back in 2014-ish? and only recently managed to really start the comic and Im really enjoying it a lot!

Oh hai, nice to see some fellow millennials!

I'm going to be 32 by the end of the month and I've been drawing and writing since I was a wee little kid :'D I have a Master's degree in Graphic Design and I work as an Art History and technical drawing teacher by day. I've been involved in the world of traditional publishing for over a decade now, both as a writer and as an illustrator. The Emergency Coven is my first "official" big comic project.

I've always wanted to be a comic artist, but the traditional comic scene in my country is tiny, overly focused on already existing IPs and quite hard to get in. Plus, I much prefer to work on my own comics, rather than stuff written by someone else, so when I realized that webcomics were a thing, I was super happy! I don't necessarily plan to turn comic-making into a full time job and I'm more than happy keeping it as a side-job of sorts... but I'd definitely love to see my audience grow ^___^

About the comic: The Emergency Coven is a supernatural mystery that's been in the works since 2015 (though I only started to publish it as an actual comic starting from last year). It follows a bunch of disaster mages joining forces against a bunch of disaster cultists. Includes found family/fire-forged friends, cool motorcycles, lots of long haired dudes and LGBT+ characters. Rated T+ for language, violence and sensitive themes (e.g. mental health, bullying and abuse).

I'm 16 and have never worked with anything. At the beginning, I considered to write as a hobby, but as I wrote my story I decided to take it serious. I really love the story I'm writing and everything that is gonna happen. I hope you all enjoy it! My novel is a fantasy which happens in an unequal world, where there is a people who is hunted under some empire's justification. "Everybody is victim of an unequal sun."
