I'm an atheist but I've always rather liked the tenth commandment (and quite a few of the others): "You shall not covet your neighbor's goods."
My translation of it, to me (and my dad was big on this) is this: Stop worrying or wanting what the other guy has. You don't know what he had to do to get it. Concentrate on your stuff, whether it's your writing or your newest toy.
I see this quite often in comments where people are agonizing over other people's numbers, likes, subs etc. They want to know how to change what they do to grab those numbers, likes, subs etc.
I usually end my posts with "Write hard, write true." That's where the true comes in. The other guy is probably writing/drawing "true." Their work is coming from a place inside them that is true to them. No matter what you do you're not going to be able to copy him. Audiences recognize that.
So stop worrying about the other guy and keep trying to be true to yourself and improve yourself daily.
end of soapbox.
Write hard, write true.
