Opinion on "thanks for subscribing" posts

i like them! theyre a cute bit of extra art, and an opportunity for me to throw in any compliments i didnt comment, or just say again that i love the comic

I initially did not set up a Thank you image, because as a reader I didn't really care if I got one or not. But after seeing that most creators do it, I decided to try it out. After receiving comments back it is really something that other people seem to enjoy. Now, I periodically go through and send a thank you and short comment to new subscribers.

I didn't set one up, mainly because I felt they become routine or expected, so they stop feeling special after a while (I mean, it's cute but it could be just as effective or more if they write out a unique and personal thank you message). I myself just post pictures of cute pugs as a light-hearted and fun thank you. So far the response has been positive.

I haven't even had the time to create a thank you picture yet. My health is rocky at best and I do well most weeks to get my page done. I've slowly been coming ahead lately, so maybe at some point soon I'll be able to take part. Maybe. I don't want to get hopes up if my health takes a nose dive and I end up not being able to get the image done and get it posted to everyone's profiles.

Edit: Also, I'm perfectly ok with not getting one. They're cute, though the comic itself is the grand prize, really. I'm just grateful that creators are providing such beautiful and awesome content for free!

I think it's really cool when I get a "Thanks" art note for subscribing to someone's comic, but necessary? No...I understand that these creators can be busy and dont have time to respond back. For me, as long as they are utilizing some of that busy time working on their comic which I like, the impact of getting a "Thanks for subscribing" notice isnt that important. I have a creator whose comic I read now- dude didnt send me a "Thanks" note, but he comments and responds when I share my interest in his comic.

I made one myself to send to those who subscribe to my comic because I'm really appreciative of my subscribers. They didnt have to choose to follow my comic- but they did, and I'm grateful that they like my comic enough to follow it.

I like them, but don't really think much of them beyond the initial five seconds of noticing it. I think I actually prefer the, 'Thanks for 1k subs!' posts because then we get to see a cute doodle from the artist instead of something copy and pasted dozens of times.

I don't care about them. There was a time where my wall got kinda spammed with all those 'thank u' drawings and i found it a bit annoying :U I also feel slighly guilty when I unsubscribe to a comic where I've earlier have gotten a 'thank u' drawing from

After reading so many opinions here I feel like it's a good thing I stopped sending them.

I mean, they really do take a lot of time to send them to everyone, and there's so many struggles that come with it.

Sometimes I sent it before the picture was done uploading... Just copy pasting stuff a hundred times takes like over an hour a week??? Making sure you haven't posted it on their wall already, having to find the person you last sent it too so you can start from there on. Having soooo many tabs open you can't even see the favicon? Reading everybody's description (I'm a creepy stalker I'm sorry) accidentally skipping people... Forgetting to do it and having to do even more the next day...

It's overkill, really, and most people like a thanks for the 1K just as much or even more?

If I knew that before I probably wouldn't have done these. But at the same time, I'm personally not a fan of thanks for the 1K posts. My readers aren't just numbers to me, so calling them a part of the thousand others? Idk not my thing.

I actually really enjoy seeing them. Although if I had one posted on my wall for every single comic I've subscribed to things would get pretty crazy (I think I'm almost at the 200 mark...)
Also kinda makes you feel like the author actually sees you as a person who enjoys their work instead of just a faceless number in a crowd of subscribers floating through the interwebs.
Although I don't expect people with tons of subscribers to post individual notes since that would take forever.

Hi guys! I was just wondering what other people thought about sending "thank-you" posts for subscribing. I've personally never felt the need to make one because I prefer doing broad acknowledgement posts at milestones. I feel a little bad for deleting those kind gratitudes when they're thrown up on my tapas wall, but i'd rather keep that space for mini comics related to 64 and my own announcements

Does anyone feel differently/have a strong argument for why they're effective?

I personally stopped sending them out, people tend to sub for sub with me, and I honestly don't see the point of putting the effort into writing a comment or something on their walls. I do enjoy receiving them however, after all there's something I generally like about the comic I subbed to, and seeing something extra from them makes me happy. I keep my comics on Tapas pretty straight forward, only comics, if people want extras I have a main site and a twitter account for extra things.

Broader group thank yous is definitely a lot easier than handing out hundreds of posts anyway.

I don't mind seeing them on my own wall tho. I like to know the artist is happy.

Gee, I haven't gotten any of those in a loooong time. I don't think many creators do them now? Plus a lot of readers are strictly on mobile and don't even know that they have a wall.

I personally welcome them.

I don't mind them because people usually make some really fun, cute, or cool thank you images and its awesome to see a bit extra from them

Personally, I think they're really nice. No matter how detailed or simple they are, I always enjoy seeing them.

Since this topic was merged with a previous one that asked the same question, and I glanced a bit at the previous messages, wow. Let me just say that, while I love "thank you" images, I have no problem at all with the creator just leaving a nice message on my wall when I subscribe to their series. It's literally the thought that counts - express it with words or with an image, the intent is the same. Like, one of my series has a "thank you" image, but the other one wasn't initially made to be shared so I never made one, and I just thank subscribers with a message. Both are fine, really.
