What are opinions? They say you have the right of free speech, yet when I see something I disagree with or say something that goes against popular opinion people immediately start to pummel my words and attempt to make me think the same way as them. COURAGE? what's that? Everyday we live in fear towards speaking on our opinions in case of being turned against.

It may hurt your feelings but it's the truth.

Free speech goes both ways. If you have the right to say what you think, others have the right to disagree with you and voice their own opinion. How far they go with that is their own problem and if you don't agree with them you can ignore what they say. There's nothing courageous about having an opinion, but what that opinion is is up for debate. If you can't handle opposition to your opinions, that sounds like something you need to figure out on your own and not be upset at others for.

aight man. One thing I disagree with is the ability to stand up for your opinions, I think that's pretty courageous.

I didn't say standing up for your opinions wasn't courageous, just that having an opinion isn't. Everyone has opinions, having one doesn't make anyone special.

what matter is how people handle their disagreements. Not every human thinks the same, but it is possible to have a civil conversation about it.

It does bother me when people don't let me share my opinion. I had someone call me a conspiracy theorist on Facebook the other day. I mean, I guess that's their opinion, too. I think @DiegoPalacios hit the nail on the head. I've learned that how I handle disagreements of opinion makes a big difference. If I try my best to keep my opinion civil - even if the other person still disagrees, the most important thing to remember is that you still have your thoughts. They can't take away how you think.
