Outlining characters? Art advise?

I have only a mere 10 pages in my comic and on pages 1 and 10, i outlined the characters in white. This was done mainly because i didn't want the characters to blend in with the background. But i don't to be so inconsistent with the art so what i'm asking is:

Should i outline my characters? Which do you think looks better?

And just in general, is there anything off putting about the art? It's not the best I could do but, i tried to find a balance so i could spit out pages faster. Cx I would really appreciate any feedback!

I think both looks are fine, personally - as far as the art goes, you can improve on form/consistency but so can we all! The painted style works well for you. If you want an improvement tip, I'd study human figures more and practice muscles/bone structure/etc to get better poses, but honestly it's the same advice i'd give myself!

I don't think the outlines are necessary since you're already using lines in the base drawing of the characters.
Perhaps save the white outlines for when you're emphasizing the character and they don't have a full background behind them?

I think the outlines are def a good touch! creating that contrast with what may be going on with the bg or just a simple artistic flare to your art, but i dont think they are necessary. If you think about it maybe like using the outlines only when you need to have a contrast with the bg then otherwise not having it normally, would be fine. That could be your consistent; consistant being that you use both? Idk if that made sense XD I use silhouettes/blocks in my comic but i dont do it always and i think its fine? I think your outline could work similarly like that!

I don't see a problem with outlining the characters only sometimes, if there's a stylistic purpose. Sometimes I use white outlines to give a sense of being emotionally isolated or seperate:

And sometimes it's just a technical/clarity thing, like a black-haired character on a black background ;d

But it's largely situational. Since your comic is in colour, you can use it to your advantage to help the characters pop from the background, usually by having the background colours a little less saturated or dark.

In general though, I'd say just keep practicing the foundations of anatomy and perspective. It'll add a whole lot more clarity to your artwork and you shouldn't have to rely on outlines so much. :>
