If you can't pick one or the other, basically pick something that works in between :3
I do my chapters page by page daily, because I find it a lot easier to keep my buffer that way, and keep myself working at the same time. Plus, I really like seeing the daily progression of my readers talking the story out and asking questions and stuff. It gets the community going and it draws in new readers while keeping the current readers compelled to read more. Plus, I have about 18-22 pages each chapter, so taking out the weekends (which I don't upload on), means I can get a chapter done a month, which just works well for updating schedules so people can know when to expect the next chapter to start and stuff.
So you basically gotta pick an update schedule that works for you, your readers, and what you're trying to accomplish with your comic. Do you just want to share your story with the world? Doing it monthly is fine then, as long as you keep your readers updated and they KNOW they'll get the next chapter on say, the first day of every month. One way of keeping readers in and maybe getting a few more is sharing stuff maybe once a week like concept sketches, progress gifs of your pages, etc. Monthly really works best for people who just want to create a comic and do so at a slow and steady pace that works for them. If your comic is only several chapters long, this works even better so you're not stuck doing one series for years and years, but that's a creator preference. Also know that the readers who come back to read your series each month are really, really dedicated readers who care and like your story enough to wait a month for each episode to be released (which isn't a bad thing, of course!)
If you want to build your readership, pull in some Ad Revenue, get the community discussion going, generally just try and work your way up to making a living off your comic, then daily pages really does help. You CAN do this with a monthly comic, just don't be surprised if it takes a bit longer to do so, unless your comic has indeed struck gold right off the bat, in which case, you'd better make the most of your first chapter to really pull people in.
Daily pages, of course, only works for creators who are able to whip out 2-3 decent quality pages in the span of a day's amount of work, maybe more (it depends what their series' definition of "decent quality" is) and still have a buffer set up. To put it short, you will be drawing a lot, and this is coming from someone who does pages daily (of course, there are times you'll have all the time in the world to do a 12 hour drawing spree and set up a buffer for the next week, so whenever you find yourself faced with this situation, take it - you have the time that you get, so use it; but DON'T push yourself either. If you aren't comfortable drawing that much, then pushing yourself will just make you hate what you do.)
Think of updating schedules as a strategy game. You need to decide what you want to get out of updating - whether it's views and profit, or just that good feeling you get sharing things with the world - how often you can draw and how quickly, at a rate that is comfortable for you, how long your chapters will be and if you can get that done on a monthly basis, etc.
Picking the in-between that Anna suggested works very well too. If you can't do it daily for fear of losing your buffer and falling behind (which is understandable), but don't want to make your readers wait once a month, then go for the in between - update several pages 2-3 times a month, that way you keep your current readers sucked in and you can show up in Fresh often enough for new readers to come around.
