I do drinks, too! I always make myself a big mug of chocolate milk before I sit down to draw, haha!! The funny thing is, milk actually makes me sick to my stomach… but it's too ingrained in my comic-making process to cut out, oops.
Comic creating rituals -- I really have this fun little thing that forces me to go back and check for inconsistencies and spelling errors and stuff: "Devil's in the details" ! My ritual as the finisher is to go through the completed work and hide a little devil doodle/shape somewhere in the page. It's fun and keeps me peppy feeling even after hours of painting~!
Wake up, get on the computer. Work.
I have to shower first and be in my pyjamas. I'm also a night owl and can only start drawing after 10 PM. o.o I don't get much sleep.
i have a playlist that i only listen to when i make comics. but i dont listen to it all the time. but also i try to work on my comic every saturday night while im watchin toonami with my dog C:
Coffee or hot chocolate are necessities. Sometimes I need to watch talk shows to have a few laughs before beginning a page/illustration/etc to get me in a good mood!
Standard worship of Allah. any other rituals are dumb.
i cant work unless i have a lets play or something playing in the bg i like listening to people talk
I usually work on my stuff in the evening. So I eat dinner then work on my comic.
I used to always have a drink but I work on a floor with carpet and ended up staining in (clumsy) so I don't do that anymore. My rituals are really usually sketching 3-4 pages more than I need to have done and keeping them open even when I have to work on a previous page; mostly to feel like I'm "getting things done." I'm prone to anxiety in general, even more so when I Feel like I'm not getting enough work done on something, or that I'm behind.
walking to the kettle is the only exercise i get lol . I always have coffee on hand and while inking I have started listening to audio books (you tube) it helps pass the time ( coz i hate inking)
I like to have tea too while I work on my comic, and a few chocolates next to it and everytime I finish a certain thing like lineart in a panel I may eat a chocolate xD whee rewards lawl...
Usually for me I need TV or music as background noise. TV is effective when I have it on something that I've already seen & doesnt interest me as much, though music does a better job. I usually keep a bottle of water around and some sort of candy snack that I can munch on until I take a break.
Hmm,I kinda just set up my table and laptop, spread my sheets, place my books on the side for reference and just work from there. I also start up music to get my creative flow going.
Been like this since I first got my laptop. lol
Fascinating! I also make tea (today it was Earl Gray) or sometimes coffee (also in a small french press), throw on either a music playlist or a TV show and get to work.
I always drink green tea or water too! I buy roasted rice green tea, or green tea with brown rice if I could find it. The rice gives it an amazing 'nutty' flavour. I also listen to political debate/ talks while I work. Music is ...meh. I get tired of it after a while. Much prefer people talking.
Heh. Looks like we are birds of a feather. I too seem to prefer working on my comic after dark even though I'm more than capable of doing so during the day.
I need to draw in the dark with just my laptop and desk lamp. Also a coffee/tea. My desk should be completely free - which is unusual as I'm the biggest slob I know ^^;
I need about 7 cups of tea before I even think about starting, then I annoy the neighbours while singing along to my favourite rock tracks while I'm illustrating.
Glad I'm not alone
