I'm going to post this up pertaining to my own concept, but you guys, feel free to post your own concepts for feedback below as well.
So if anyone wants to give me a bit of feedback, I have a project sitting around that I have partly started on. What do you guys think of the character designs, and lore so far? Ideas and suggestions welcomed.
I have an idea for a sort of Aztec style for the lore part of the comic, then my more usual art style for the normal timeline.
Lost guardians: The Lore
Long ago, before man or beast walked this world, it was barren and desolate. Only the gods knew of it’s presence. There were three gods of creation, The first god was Flora, and upon seeing the sad, bleak world, he decided he would bless the planet with his gift, and so the world became beautiful and alive with plants of every color, shape, and size.
The second god was Fauna, and when he saw what lovely work Flora had done with the desolate little world, he was in awe, but he found the world to be lonely, so he decided to create animal life on the world. Animals and plants now lived in every nook and cranny of the beautiful new world, and both Flora and Fauna were pleased.
But the third god, Homosia, was not easily pleased. He was a mischievous god, but he was not malicious. He created a new animal for the beautiful world, one that was certain to amuse him with it’s intelligence. He called this animal man.
Man learned quickly and proved intelligence could trump any obstacle placed in their path. Homosia came before man and man worshiped him. Flora and Fauna were less pleased with man, but man offered Flora and Fauna sacrifices to win their favor at Homosia’s suggestion. When Flora and Fauna saw man’s devotion, they accepted the tribute and blessed man with good hunting and plentiful crops.
Things stayed this way for many years, but one fateful day Fauna descended to man to accept his tribute, and as his eyes fell upon the young woman who was laid before his feet he was struck with her beauty. Rather than eating the girl, like he usually did, he took the woman to his home where he doted on her. It wasn’t long before the god found himself completely in love with the beauty, and he decided to make her his wife. The girl allowed the god to make love to her and before long gave him a child. Fauna was so pleased with his new child he decided he wanted more. He descended again to receive more tributes and he took more wives.
As the years passed Fauna had accumulated more wives, sons, and daughters than he could count. Fauna was the god of animals, and his form would continuously change. From this quirk the god possessed, no two of his children were ever born looking the same. Wings, hooves, claws, horns, stripes, or spots, his children were all unique, and he treasured them.
After some time, Flora came to learn of Fauna’s activities from his own tributes. Outraged, he told Homosia of Fauna’s activities and insisted the two of them stop the perversion. When the two gods arrived on Fauna’s doorstep intending to decimate the animal god’s family, the god begged them to let his family be. Flora was disgusted and demanded blood to pay for the travesty. He snatched up some of Fauna’s wives and children and bled them in front of him, but this only made Fauna angry. He attacked Flora and the two gods flew into a rage so potent the skies cried blood.
Homosia looked upon Fauna’s frightened family that resembled his man creation very much, and could not bring himself to slay them in cold blood. Instead he offered the family to come with him and offered them his protection. All of the children and wives were swept away with the god of man. All except Fauna’s five most loyal wives, who refused to leave their husband’s side. After a fight that lasted three days and three nights, Fauna was at long last defeated by his nemesis. As he lay dying on the steps of his home his wives gathered around him and wept. With the last of his strength he gave his wives his final gift and told them to protect their children after he was gone.
In a blinding light the god was gone, and left were his wives, their once human forms were no more. They had become great guardians, blessed with the power of the elements, fire, water, earth, wind, and spirit. The wives used their new power to attack the injured Flora, unleashing their rage and sorrow upon him with a vengeance. Flora had no choice but to flee for his life and never again returned to attack the wives and children.
Homosia had been busy hiding the children and wives away in the vast, beautiful world the three gods had created together. He left them for the world to raise up and become their home. Afterwards he returned to the battle site and found nothing but bloody stains and scorch marks of the fallen god. He felt the god’s life had ended and he wept for the sad events that had befallen Fauna and his family.
Centuries passed since the events surrounding the Animal god and his wives and children. Homosia saw to Fauna’s children. Though some died in the beautiful, but harsh, world, many lived on and had children of their own, becoming the ancestors of our modern Anithos clans. No one ever knew what happened to the five guardian mothers, but it is said when they are needed most they will appear to worthy children, and deliver them from evil.
