Plushies for Comics: How?

For my horror comic, I have received requests over the time it has been running for plushies of the monsters that appear in the story. I was wondering whether anyone has tried this.
- What are the logistics of doing this? Company or commission?
- Is it cost effective? (as in the market)

Plushie commissions I've seen go for $100+ depending on the complexity of the design. Not really worth it as a merchandise.

But if you have enough demand to justify mass production, then it might be worth doing a kickstarter!

Hey! That's a great questions cuz I get that too, but from only 3 people. And it's my character Pertz that they want a plushie in...I kind of want one too! He's the little alien with antennea and a tail!

Plushie commissions are expensive, but I don't know of companies that do custom plushies for any cheaper. A company you would also probably have to order in bulk to turn a profit, like most company orders for art related things I have worked with.

I'm not sure how cost effective it would be, unless you have a high-demand. It might be better to give sewing yourself a go, hah. If you're planning on selling you'd might have to order through a company, I don't know if commission artists would be happy with you planning on mass-reselling their work, unless you make some kind of agreement.

Aurora creates very high quality durable pushies and does custom work. That said, to make it cost effective you are going to probably have to do at least a few thousand units.
