Is there any way to turn off ads for my comic? Or better control what gets shown?
I'd rather not have any revenue than have a certain political figure's grotty mug anywhere near my comic,
nor do I want anyone to think I endorse them. Is there anything I can do?

The only way is - Don't post here.

The Ads generate revenue for the Site and the Creators. Turning that feature off may not be wise,

I can absolutely understand the sentiment with regards to certain ads but it's definitely out of the users control here. What ads are run is determined by Tapas' ad provider, which I would assume is Goggle's Ads/Adsense, and we all know good ol google :unamused:

but being a little less pessimistic I would hope to assume that most folks would be smart enough not to assume that a creator/site's views don't align with the ads run on the page. As for solutions I think all that can be done is attempt to reach out to Tapas or wait till voting season passes.

I've seen my fair share not only on Tapas but YouTube as well and all that can really be done is either scroll past, skip or ignore it. And if you're adamant about making sure people are aware of your stance maybe a small banner or something could work

Unfortunately there's probably no way to control just general political ads, but if it's something really hurtful, I think you can always report it to Tapas. Just because it's a third party doesn't mean they can't be contacted about inappropriate content, after all.

How ads work is they take from what you (the reader) search on google etc. it's out of your control.

As said, I don't think most people would think you're endorsing the ads at all, anymore than someone would think you're endorsing an ad for a tv or insurance or a game or whatever else might pop up there or on any other site, if they're even paying enough attention to notice the ads. (Not to mention ads are usually powered by cookies and the like which track the individual's wanderings and tailors ads to them specifically so what one sees might not be what another sees and you're more likely to see something you're receptive to).

And if you're really that worried about it, you could always put up a disclaimer somewhere to let people know. Just put a note in your creator's notes or the blurb or whatever letting readers know.

Have you tried emailing support? There's probably some sort of way to vet what ads are shown--I know there is for youtube, twitch, and sites like that, but you have to contact someone directly. In fact, @ratique do you know if there's any way for us to do this on Tapas or is this not a thing? I would also like to know since election time is right around the corner and I don't want to be accidentally supporting a politician I hate.
