I let out a humorless chuckle. “And here I thought you were still the coward you used to be. What made you change your mind?”
He shook his head, remembering her glare from earlier as she told him he needed permission, "Yeah, you'll probably give me shit for that."
Also, she ate the officiate and had to marry Mr. Pepper and Mrs. Salt.
Turning her head sideways, she spoke quietly, her words calculated to hurt. "From here on, we walk or own paths for I could never walk the path of a coward."
