Cassian tracked his movements, eyes narrowing. "Then explain. Tell me why I should trust you when you wonât even look me in the eye and give me a straight answer."
Thorne let out a sharp, humourless laugh. "Trust?" He turned, leaning against the table, his hands gripping the edge. "You think trust is something you demand and just get?"
Cassian scoffed. "Donât talk to me about trust when youâre the one whoâ"
Thorne moved fast. Too fast.
In one fluid motion, he pushed off the table and closed the space between them, grabbing Cassian by the collar of his shirt. Cassian barely had time to react before his back met the wooden beam behind him. His pulse kicked up, but he refused to let it show.
"Careful," Thorne murmured, voice low, dangerous.
Cassian smirked, despite himself. "There you are."
Thorneâs grip tightened before he released him with a shove. "You have no idea what youâre asking for," he muttered, turning away.
