This is absolutely the thread for me. Half of character creation is finding applicable music. I'll go with 3 characters from my ongoing series SUMMON! The Nameless Relic because this is honestly one of my favorite things to do.
Omari Osei, the Scarlet Spellcaster is a crafty and cunning cardplayer. In the hunt for the Nameless Relic, he's after it purely for the money. Going all the way to Egypt, the last place it was spotted, in search for it. He emphasizes in clever tricks and deception, the most street-smart of the cast especially because of his upbringing. Neither hero nor villain, Omari is a man doing it all for himself, at least those are the cards he shows. His love of card games stems from his youth, where games and gambling were his only way to fight back. However, the golden rule of gambling is to know when to hold em and when to fold em, knowing when to walk and when to run. Gamblers of the past met many unfortunate ends, will Omari's name follow?
Song of Choice:Let the Games Begin by Kool G. Rap
A song that emphasizes the cutthroat, unforgiving nature in the world where booze, bodies and bullets demand and command respect. Games of life and death are leisure here, and these games are winner take all with no mulligans or do-overs. Cheat to survive, deceive to get by, but most importantly, don't get caught.
Long Xiaolian, the Azure Dragon is a child successor to the Long Family, a historical hermit clan that boasts education, medicine, spirituality and combat far exceeding common knowledge. Having the strongest connection to the Relic, young Xiaolian was sent on a global crusade to reclaim it for their family. At only 8-years old, they are the youngest of the cast but are the most knowledgeable about the aforementioned Relic and the power of a Summon. However, they are incredibly naïve to the real world and it's ways as they will soon realize. Not everyone or everything is as it seems. Calling reality cruel is putting it gently.
Song Choice: Tsumugi no Uta/Spinning Song, specifically the Chinese cover by Panda. It's one of my personal favorite songs and the cover is my absolute favorite rendition. The lyrics are short and they repeat, but the gentle melody and slower pace naturally connected to the quiet and thoughtful child successor. Especially in their debut, as they dance after the ritual, this was the song I imagined. This crusade will force this child to mature in many ways, and break them in others, testing the teachings of their clan. Swept off of their feet in the calm, spinning the memories into two spirals as they fade away.
The Apricot Thunder, Eileen Edwards is a freelance journalist investigating The Nameless Relic and the ongoing story of its disappearance. A thrill-seeker, she regularly puts herself into dangerous situations for the electric excitement of it. She pursues the Relic purely for her work and has no stake into who or where it ends up. All that matters is that she is the first and the best at covering the story, in hopes her work will land her full-time employment and notoriety. She's a fiercely flirtatious free-spirit with a love for skating, taking life at her own pace. Naturally, covering this story will turn many pages not meant for the general public. Will the sound of Thunder be her camera shutter or a closing book?
Song: Let Mom Sleep Hideki Naganuma, Jet Set Radio OST. Fun Fact, Eileen's name is based on the song Come on, Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners and the cover by Save Ferris, however her design(s) are all based on Jet Set Radio, Air Gear, Spatoon and other similar media. Modern, athletic fashion with a funky fresh feel. Eileen's design here specifically pulls from the leading ladies in Jet Set Radio (Gum) and Air Gear (Simca), specifically in the skates. Eileen has the most potential music, but I felt Let Mom Sleep was the most fun option. In universe, Eileen definitely listens to the soundtrack, especially while in the city.
Gave a little more than 1 character, but this is kinda my favorite part so I had to share as much of it as I could. If you read all of that, you're the real MVP
