Could you describe it? Do you mind describing it fully, with all the details? I might have something completely different in mind compared to you and I don't want use up my time for something you might never even like...

Well, i want the cover to give a sense of a disable Chinese girl in a power wheelchair divided between two different world. one side is bare mundane and white. while the other side look futuristic and fantastical

that's a bit hard to figure out could you provide some pictures as an example? for the futuristic and fantastical part

use american foods, technologies like aircraft, flying cars, and whether you think the future would look like

I'd love one for Arbiter's Wake if you could.

Here's the current one.

Synopsis of the story:

The wells that control the flow of magic throughout the land of Pharlahaim have mysteriously been sealed by a powerful spell in an event known as the Great Castigation. This has created an imbalance of power between humans and other races. Wars have broken out between once allied nations. Disease and plague tear through cities and villages.

Keyary, a frail and sickly girl, is thrown into this dark new world after her village, Raegone, is attacked by an enemy militia. The last thing she was told to do is reach Valasse, the free city of magic and dragons, to find the cure for her ailment.

However, no one who has ventured to the city since the Great Castigation has ever returned. Are dragons, the guardians of these magical wells, to blame or is there a more sinister reason?

I think your cover is already great...I don't know how you want me to change this, just don't expect much ;; I can't draw I only make edits just to put that out there, this'll be great practice for sure tho.

Here's my attempt

I think I see that you sometimes find bits & pieces of images & put them together in a photoeditor. I've done some like that but always am anxious about misusing copyrighted images & things like that. What sources do you go to & what are your thoughts on borrowing bitmaps bits?

Sorry for the late reply, I know copyright rules and that we shouldn’t be using photos that aren’t ours, but I think it’s fine as long as you don’t sell any physical copies of your story? (What I wrote earlier wasn’t a good thing and shows my inexperience.)

There are sites where you can get free pictures without the fear of copyright such as unsplash.com and spark post app. I don’t know what that last sentence is talking about as I have no experience. Just don’t go selling your stories with copyrighted pictures, they do this thing a lot in Wattpad...so my grasp on what’s right and wrong stems from what I learnt there.

Hi, thanks for the reply & np about late or any such thing.

I've been told that copyright means one isn't even allowed to use a copyrighted image to begin a cut/paste/edit work because "you didn't own it to begin with". Whether that's legally so, I don't know. I mean, even if all that I retain are a handful of pixels? Seems that it gets ridiculous at some point, right?

It does seem like a lot of uses are "overlooked" until money gets involved.

@Ordinaryaverageguy
If you want to edit and need images there are sites where you can find pictures that aren't copyrighted.

As long as money isn't involved the use of copyrighted images will be most likely be overlooked, but still I would suggest that out of respect not to use those pictures without contest from the creator. I think that we as creators can understand it best - like how you wouldn't want someone to take your your comic/novel and post it under his site without crediting you there are photographers who invested their time, effort and money and made those pictures and wouldn't want other using it for their own benefit without contest from them.

But as soon as money is involved, you gotta be careful just look at how every webcomic and manga changes McDonald name to wacdonald because of copyright issues.
