Hello, I've previously asked about "Is Procreate good for comic making?", and I now have the clear idea of the capabilities of the app. And then I came across with ClipStudioEX and it is so nice.

As much as possible, I want to save my money and invest only in things that I won't regret spending for. My question is, between the two—Procreate and Clipstudio— which of the two should I consider purchasing?

Note: I only want to know which app should I get if my sole purpose is to have convenience when making comics.

Edit: Or should I just spend a little more and just purchase the two?

Dunno much about Procreate, but if you do intend to purchase something there is a sale right now for Clip Studio. So if you do intend to purchase one of them I'd consider making your choice quick

I know that this is not the answer to your question but I thought I'd add it in

If you're creating on PC - then CSP, if on a mobile device, then I'd suggest going for procreate as mobile CSP is subscription based (pc version is on time purchase)

One of the advantage of Procreate is it is only a one time purchase which attracts me. Thanks for the thought though.

They both do pretty different things, Procreate is only 10 bucks, after all, and will work on a tablet, while ClipStudio will work on both tablet and your PC and costs quite a bit more (and you don't need to get EX, I didn't personally buy EX yet, it really serves more for printing needs). So it's up to you to decide what you want out of it.

Imma copy-paste my previous post here so;

I use Clip Studio Paint all the time
It makes my life sooooo much easier with its models lol
I recommed everyone!!

Sorry about my messy workspace btw

Is a one time payment ^^

.

I think the best thing about CSP is its free assets site tho

I feel like I need to clarify that I'm not sponsored by CSP :joy:

Oh yeah the assets are a huge part of it, I forgot to mention them haha. Not sure if Procreate has something like that

I've seen a pro comics guy- Clayton Henry, use Procreate when making comics...so it can be done.

I'd never do it, though.

Clip is the better choice for comics, in my personal experience. You can have far more layers, it has a function for speech bubbles and panel borders, and it has lots of text options as well as the storage space to upload your own. Procreate has some handy tools, like the automatic straight line or shape when you hold down your stylus. And it has very nice brushes/effects. I use both.

To me, Procreate is better for certain illustrations or paintings that don't require a ton of layers. But for a comic, I usually only use it if I'm doing something quick. For it's price it's fine. But for Clip Studio Paint's price, it's better. I got it for $25 for my computer, and then when I got an Ipad, I pay five dollars a month. Worth it in my opinion, since I sell some of my comics. Ultimately, it's up to you and how you see yourself using the software. Maybe start with Procreate and then try CSP during their next sale if you feel you need something more robust.

Maybe I really should start with Procreate and then switch if I want more. Thank you for the thought.
