I agree, to a point; in this day and age, you gotta get the algorithm's attention before you can find the audience that will really appreciate what you do. It's a bit of both at first, but at some point yeah, you should hope to build up a fanbase, however big or small, that appreciates your work for what it is.
Gave your comic a read, and I love the aesthetic of it! The art style is pleasing and consistent, and being on that old-timey paper gives a nice vibe that fits your comic. Only having limited coloring is really cool as well; lets you know who or what is important, and I'm sure as the artist it gives you a break from having to spend too much time on each panel. Pretty funny, interesting world I'd like to see more of; I'm subbed! Also, what sound does a barking plant make...
My story is solely a novel with added screenshots from the game it's based on; I'm no artist but I feel I have a compelling story to read, if you're willing to sit along for the ride. It's not gonna be a short one, by any means, and I worry I might droll on and on sometimes, but I'd rather that than come off as if even I'm not interested in the world or the characters!
-- 'Several years after being stranded on an extremely strange and seemingly artificial planet, Blast and his squad of Spiral Knights are given a mission to stop a weapon from destroying the place they've learned to call home. While they've proven themselves time and again in the past, they still have a lot of learning to do. And some lessons can only be learned the hard way.'
