Promote Your Comic? Nah, How About Someone Else's?

Here on the forums, I've seen too many self-promotion topics created, and while promoting yourself isn't inherently bad, perhaps we could switch it around and post some of our favorite comics that deserve some love!

There is only 1 rule:

Honestly the MC's name put me off reading this for a while (which is a lame reason as reasons go), but I finally picked it up and enjoyed it a lot. It's got a really solid concept for a story and I'm interested to see where it's going to go.

https://tapastic.com/series/The-Property-of-Hate (fantasy) - I've probably read this through like 20 times because I find myself going to reference a scene and then whoops I've accidentally read the whole dang thing again. So cute, so clever, and so foreboding.

https://tapastic.com/series/Wednesday7 (action) - When I played Journey, there was this one part where my partner and I were chiming frantically at each other as we trudged through a snowstorm, sort of like how geese flying in formation honk to encourage the lead goose. Yeah. Anyway. This comic's pretty new, but it's got a lot of personality. Seriously, check out that dude in the banner. If that's not a face worth punching I don't know what is.

Seriously, if you're an artist of any sort this will touch you and then forcibly throw you on the feels train with a one-way ticket to emotionville. Also the art is really good and the creator put a LOT of time into world-building. Like I'm actually a little intimidated by the depth of the world.

https://tapastic.com/series/West (fantasy) - Beautiful lighting and coloring that goes with the mood of the story. The strong dialogue is what hooked me, and the mythology of the world is what got me to stay.

My favorite stories are ones with superpowers, ahaha! Here are some of the ones I love the most:

Heroic Shenanigans, about a summer camp where super kids go for the summer. It has really professional writing and the art is really confident and cartoony!

Hashtag Wafflefry, about teenagers with social-media based powers they hate. Great characters and art, and is overall just a really fun read!!

Paradise, a buddy-cop comic about people living in a city set aside for superhuman. It's funny and the colors and expressions are phenomenal!!

Recoil, about a kid who screams too loud and ends up getting kidnapped and sent to therapy. Again, really good art on this one!!

Inhibit, about a guy who can't control his superpowers and is therefore stuck as a resident in a home for other uncontrollable supers. I'm really enjoying the world building in this one!!

Ahaha, funny thing, actually... Not just changing his name to Rex is sorta one of my biggest regrets for this comic. :'D I'm unfortunately kind of past the point of no return with it. Thanks so much for the kind words though! It really means a lot that you're enjoying it so much!

As for some comics I'd recommend...
Living When Dead - Pure eye candy, plus I'm loving the theme and concept so far. Who doesn't love demons and zombies?

Slack Wyrm- Funny, lazy dragon. More of a gag a day, and I've seen this much more successful on Tumblr, but I had no idea this guy had a Tapastic which contains way more pages than I knew he had.

Kitsune Sho - Really adorable and beautiful. I need to actully catch up, but it had a really charming little story where I left off.

Suck it!!! - I won't give away exactly what it's about since it's suppose to be a surprise when you find out, but the characters are just super fun and I love the dialogue.

Cosmic Fish - Another one I need to desperately need to catch up with, because it's full of some really cool and unique designs and ideas. I can definitely garuntee you won't find another comic like this one.

long exposure - i might be a tad biased because i follow the artist on deviantart and i've liked the characters since before the comic was posted, but gah. i love them both to death. the story itself looks like it'll be hella cool.

and not on tapastic, but check please. it's pretty well-known on tumblr, but i haven't heard much about it on here. gay hockey kids, frat boys, friendship, pies. check please is love, check please is life.

okay so

SPIRE is genuinely, really, truly, awesome. it's one of my favourite current comics in general, including the hoards of way too many print comics i read. its set in a strange, hybrid world between steampunk and scifi, that works perfectly, following the story of vampires on a journey to return to humanity. the characters are diverse - in character and in the typical meaning of diversity - fun, and compelling and the art - oh the art! the art in this comic is dynamic and exciting with rich, shiny colours and a wonderful modern-day cartoon feel. also, theres a vampire called william who accidentally drinks his paint water and lives with a freeloading robot who was designed to slay vampires, and theyre super cute. so yeah, read spire

Ristorante Galattica Brilliant characters and very interesting plot. Art also looks great, I really look forward on every update.

Die Wonder I understand that this is quite popular? But I genuinely love the style and theme.

I love YOO This is my fav romcom? in tapastic right now.

Zontagius If you're a big fan of the zombie genre, I'm sure you'll like this. There's also a lot of badass characters, it's great.

NON-NON Modern romance comedy with an incredibly well executed, expressive art style. I always read the new pages immediately!

I always try to promote 2 comics in these kind of threads.

1: I care - you will cry. This is a short comic that made me bawl my eyes out. It's so good. Real feels comic.

2: Almier - This is a comic that has AMAZING art and action scenes, original catchy plot, very enjoyable comic. Yet it is an 'underdog' comic and I still don't understand why. Seriously Almier needs more love and attention <3

https://tapastic.com/series/Dont-Be-A-Hero Don't be a hero has already been mentioned here, but it's very much like Abducted in that it's an absolute joy to read every time an update comes along (which is weekly). And the artist is continually developing his art style which keeps getting better and better. The action is extreme and hi-octane so far!

https://tapastic.com/series/The-Pale - What to say about The Pale? It's so good that I bought it on comixology as well just to support the author. A murder mystery with astounding art, loveable characters and a suspense that is unparalleled!

https://tapastic.com/series/I-Necromancer - Tired of fantasy tropes? Then I, Necromancer is the story for you. The author describes it as a "fantasy Breaking Bad" and the first look at it's doomed protagonist/antagonist who the initial chapter delves into makes me believe that claim!

https://tapastic.com/series/i-mummy - I, Mummy is weird. Weird and wonderful. Setting: Steampunk-Victorian aristocratic society. Girl gets cursed, assasinated and wakes up as a mummy. Resolved to solve the mystery of her murder. Jane, the protagonist, is funky, fun, determined and has some special abilities now to help her on that case!

https://tapastic.com/series/Dragon-Chapel - Dragon Chapel deserves so much more attention than it gets. If you, like me, loved the old dragonball comics and the adventurous spirit of the initial run of that series then Dragon Chapel is as much for you as it is for me. Adorable protagonist Miara is also an admirably unselfish main character who's difficult not to love!

https://tapastic.com/series/ShadesOfMen-Pages - Follow the troublesome misadventures of Lev, one of a group of homlesss on the streets of Paris after they add a young man to their posse whom there might be more to than it seems. Lev is an especially intriguing and capable character who, to me, seems to really capture that saying "more than meets the eye". He's got some psychological and anger issues to work out too.

https://tapastic.com/series/My-Dad-Is-A-Magical-Girl - My Dad is a magical girl is so wonderfully quirky. And it really knows how to invoke the feels at times. It's also one of the mainstans of the StArtfaire.com anthology where you can read ahead!

I'm sure there are more that I could recommend, but all of those are great comics that everyone should give a look!
