Kattar has a friend named Holy Star. He hasn't been introduced yet, but he's a hippie, and this is what he renamed himself. Nobody calls him by his actual birth name.

Currently I think the most unique character name in "A Dozen Morning Glories" is the FL leads name, Essence Walker. I chose the name because I like the way it sounds, but in the context of the story I think it suits her. She's like a vapor, or a shadow, the idea of a person but missing any of the qualities that would make her seem like a "normal" person, or even someone who was actually alive. And yet she's still moving through daily life like a robot or a zombie, hence the "walker" part.

I have a story that I will bring to Tapas if my other stories becomes more popular. It's called The Black Swallowtail Stories. In it, there's demonic creatures who are the basis for all fairy, folk, and local tales of fantastical creatures. Humans try to make sense of what they're seeing, so they say they're angels, mermaids, demons, witches, vampires, etc. Something different in every region of the world.

The naming in this is similar. I have one character who has no name. So, his victims name him the word akin for "beauty" in many languages, because he uses his beauty to lure victims like a spider catching in a web. His name has been Beau, Meraviglia, Eros. So many things. His victims will say his name over and over as they lay dying, so in love or lust or just taken with his beauty. He has an androgynous young beauty, so people will see him as a girl, a guy, a god. Whatever they want to see.

So, read my other series to see this lol. The book has controversial themes, so I don't have courage to bring it to Tapas yet.

I actually wrote a story with a ton of food inspired names: Most of which are just food names rearranged, but they are definitely unique lol.
For example:
Sashqu- Squash
Cragil- Garlic
Niono- Onion
Silab- Basil
Jolfri- inspired by frijol, or bean in spanish
Nori- seaweed
Chief Maize-corn
Kora- Okra

Idk how I didn't see this earlier but, there is no relation to their personalities (although that might be an idea for the future), I was mostly just hungry when I started to write them. After a few names, I figured I'd keep the rest of them food-inspired at the very least, just for funsies.

And genuinely I don't really like okra either, I want to but it's texture isn't great and it doesn't really have much flavor either

Elio- Italian meaning-Sun-named after his Nonno
Maximus (Max)- meaning greatest- Dad is a history professor
Giorgia (Gia)- meaning farmer-Named after Nonna-Elio's little sister

Mora means "star of the sea" which relates directly to the character in a spoiler way. I gave her the surname Glas because it means 'blue' in welsh, but sounds similar to the word glass, hence the title 'crystal blue.'

I always knew I wanted my female lead to have pink hair, so I named her "Lilivienne" after the flower "Lily of the Valley"

Verner George gets his name from a character in a short story called "You Can't Take it With You." I'd never heard the name before then, but it suits the character well.

Therese gets her name from Madame Defarge from "A Tale of Two Cities" fortunately, beyond being beautiful french women, they have nothing in common

And we're back for the "Of Lowlifes, Lutes, & Liars" edition of "What's in a Name" with (from left to right):

Aranthus Asteras: He was inspired by "Amaranth" (the flower), but that name was used for Iris's mother in "Apparent Secrets," so I needed to pivot. Unwilling to give up on the name entirely, I did a little "free association" until "Aranthus" resulted.
Khazmine Asteras: She's still the same ol' Khaz from "Apparent Secrets," and her name's a fusion of names like "Casamir" and "Castiel" with a little bit of "cashmere" thrown in. "Asteras" is a Greek word for "star."
Pavocinis Asteras: "Pavo" is Greek for "peacock" and "Cinis" is another word for "ashes." His design and character is a reference to the legendary "peacock phoenix" that he often sings about once he becomes a bard.

Practically all my character names happen this way, but feel free to shout out if you wanna know a particular character's name origins.

not most original or strange but kind of subtle, Penelope (mc wife) is named after Odysseus's wife from the Odyssey. that couldn't possibly be dangerously ominous foreshadowing...could it??!!

Lol I didn't even know Shannon was unisex till I read this. Interesting.
The weirdest inspiration for a name I can think of, is my character Kumoto. For so long, she didn't even have a name, she was just "The main character's best friend". So eventually I had to give her one, but wasn't sure what. I was reading my favorite book series One Piece, and they have this little bit in between chapters called question corner, where the author answers questions that fans send in. One of the questions was where is your home town. He answered saying he grew up in the town of Kumamoto, in Japan, and I quite liked the name. So I took it, shortened it, and got Kumoto. And yeah, that's how I I got the name. As for my other characters, they're either named after someone I know, or just a cool name that I liked the sound of.

Arista means "Harvest" making her name a mirror of Therese's. The two have quite a lot in common, and our sort of equal and opposite versions of each other, as readers will come to see.

Elyn is named after my grandmother Ellen,I didn’t know what to name her at first until the name Ellen came in mind.

Naaririel means great angel prince of the seventh heaven. Honestly I didn’t know that Naaririel was a real name lol. I just wanted something that sounded ancient.

For Lillian there’s no story behind her name ,I just liked the name.

Coostaark is Costar but with a few more letters added to the mix.

My main characters name is Argo, based on Argonauts from greek myth. Have a few other loose name references to mythology, but that is likely the most unique in terms of a name.
