Promoting your webcomic when you're not posting it yet

Hi!
I was just wondering, how do you start making yourself know in the webcomic community if you're not publishing your comics in the regular apps? (Webtoon, Tapas, Webcomics etc etc...)

Asking this because i'd like people to know me more for comics now rather than illustrations, but for now i'm just posting work in progress, putting them on my socials but looks like they are not the right place, maybe

Any tips?

I'm someone with no success at all, so i can only talk about what i see that worked for other people:

I seem some webtoons with good numbers that when i look at the comments, they said "i watched this on instagram" or "i know the author from instagram" stuff like that. So advertising in social media, did work....for them (never for me), so i guess it depend on how big or loyal your followers are in social media.

I advertise heavily on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Deviantart. Mostly WIPs, maybe a panel here and there. I also join #webcomicchat on Twitter and some of the other weekly threads and just talk about what I'm working on. I try to follow whatever hashtag is trending. Socials is definitely the right place, I'm not sure where else you would post?

I'm in the same boat, posting to twitter and eventually Instagram. trying to sprinkle in fanart to mix it up too. It's hard going without updating social media, but I try to not post too much to keep it under wraps somewhat. But at least in this way you can mingle with peeps and start getting your name and art out there. And if you're going for more recognition before posting your comic definitely keep active on social media, posting, commenting, liking, to build a presence (do you have a twitter by chance? The art on your insta is very cute

Otherwise, you can hang out here too! Mingle with fellow cartoonists and novelists, maybe make an acquaintance or two. You also learn a lot of stuffs about art and writing here.

yeah, i love the community of this forum so much! Though since i mostly talk about my art-related problems i bother people too much ahaha seeing people so passionate about their creations is really cool, but somehow hurts me as well because it makes me think if i really do like making art stuff or not...

I know that when I finally started communicating more in the forums, my views skyrocketed. I don't know if doing so BEFORE I started posted would have made a difference, good or bad.

I also know that posting "works in progress" can lead to you losing some potential readers. They're going to associate your comic with an incompleteness, and we all know making comics is hard, and your incomplete pages might be the only thing you post for a long while.

For my comic, I just waited until Year One (basically season one) of my comic was complete before I started posting, advertising, or anything.
