Ok, it's been a long while... I'm so sorry for the wait on this last review, but it proved to be a different format from the two previous reviews. And @Rhonder I'm so sorry for making you wait so long. I hope you can still glean some helpful information from this! To give any readers a recap if …
I'm back after literal MONTHS. I'm sorry and there's only my procrastinating ass to blame So today I'll tackle @Hexigate 's fantasy comic, Aegis. It's going to be an art-heavy review of sorts.
[image] I'll start with showing off this recent badass cover art.
Since Aegis has been produced sinc…
@Hodge I LIVE for this goddamn anime energy
@spudfuzz "background" "rushed" Me: [image] It's beautiful.... it makes me want to fall into that world and explore it lol
Thanks for this!! I didn't know selections can be snapped to; its a shame the croppy extension doesn't work for Webtoon anymore but at least having the downloadable version and this method should be fine.
Hey loved reading your response and happy to see what you take from my thoughts and what you personally stick with A word on cover art: I'm doing it per chapter and I'm DYING lol. It literally leaves me with no other time for other art besides my comic. So... truthfully I couldn't even recommend d…
Very welcome and thanks! The colored outlines were actually a random thing I experimented with months ago and it just stuck. It's giving me more work to do and idk how noticeable it is so we'll see how long I want to stick with it :' D for now it's stuck in my process haha!
-platonic friends. that good wholesome shit - buddy-cop duo where one is a laid back jokester and the other one is straitlaced. Yeah, I'm basic.
Thank you! Thanks for honestly telling me my anatomy is wonky sometimes, and I definitely see the stiffness overall. Truthfully... I have been a Bad Artist and have not been doing gestures for like, a year?? It's time to start doing exercises again regularly
I'm so happy you like that my main cha…
I'll give this a shot. I looked at the last couple months of strips. I don't know if I'll ever like handwritten text. I can't recall where I've seen it done well and I think it's best to consider it it's own skillset and part of the craft of the comic. I can barely read your text at times which …
Apologies for the wait, the December holidays got the best of my short attention-span And a happy new year!
Thanks @AbelDraws for being the first to jump in for a review. Let's get started:
Comic Review: FIVE by Abeldraws
I'll start with tackling one of the first things readers will see when …
Incredibly proud of this update. I've gotten a lot more time to draw my comic and I went HARD on the length. Also tried to be more adventurous with my paneling. [image]
Thanks guys I'll be reviewing the first three now!
Good afternoon Tapas forum users, I wanted to do some comic reviews as a way to give back to this extremely supportive and informative community. Here's just a couple stipulations before we get started: For now I only want to take 3 comics to review as I haven't formally reviewed works before.…
My current life situation has changed and settled to the point I get to spend a lot more time arting, so my updates will go from 4-7 panels a week to roughly 25 a week. I couldn't be more stoked and thankful to be able to move my story along! It's also given me the time to do proper promo art and …
@nixxusnibelheim your storyboards bring me great joy, they're so easy to read even as preliminary sketches
I made this in an effort to motivate myself to tackle difficult panels and not procrastinate, lol (I was dreading the hands in particular)
Basically this is how I organize my sketching/li…
I... Just found it and implemented it. This is INCREDIBLE. Thank you so much!! To anyone else wanting to cut down their file-splicing and uploading time, read these instructions: https://knicknic.github.io/croppy/webtoon_bookmarklet.html It allows you to automatically drag your full-length strip…
I love and appreciate you.
In all seriousness it works perfect and I'm so excited to finally be able to have crisp smooth gradients on webtoon, all my airbrushing looked like shite on there Thanks so much!
for your test (I had to split my strip into two as the site kept crashing )
Strip 1: PNG…
Hey all, since Clip's app release for apple products I am really interseted in getting a pen to test it out. I only have an iPhone but I figure I could at least try flatting colors for comic pages on the go, and seeing how efficient it is on such a small screen. (Here's a tweet about it: https://twi…
@burginlewis Wow that writing software is HARDCORE but I definitely want to check it out:scream: @rajillustration Damn I never even thought to set stroke as a hotkey... And I will deifinitely need to try out that batch action to quickly save files (it's like the most agonizing last process...) @…
IS THIS REAL LIFE. I definitely want to update older uploads, as I noticed gradients in particular look like shite as a jpeg, but finally everything will look crisp and sharp...
Sadly after over ten years of digital art I’ve only recently discovered Actions and how much tedious work they can do for me. Here’s a good intro video on actions: One simple action I like is setting up an action to create all of my folders and layer names for each update strip (Lineart, FX, T…
Draw old people exactly how you would an 18 year old, except they have itachi-lines underneath their eyes. It's really convincing.
I start my sketchbooks with the book flipped backwards right to left already, and yes I draw right to left as a leftie:grin: and to fight pencil smudging i usually draw with a paper underneath my hand just in case... but that's one of the reasons i like to doodle in pen and marker now.
Not sure if this has been shared yet but this is so far an informative interview on the inside of Webtoon from a Canvas coordinator: https://lrmonline.com/news/episode-1117/
From my personal taste, well-done mangaesque styles are my favorite! Freaking Romance and A Messed Up Fairytale are my all-time guilty pleasures! And for super-stylized, gritty, kinda edgy dark art, Shiloh absolutely stole my heart
@Cavechan Oh god, this. Not to get existential but my comic is my driving purpose in life right now, haha. If it became successful, I'm not sure what the next step would be. But this dream alleviates my fear of not at least trying to achieve something in my life

I commute 2 hours total a day for my job, so honestly I'm pretty fatigued when I get home. I might be able to ink one panel but I go easy on myself on the weekdays. On the weekend I go hard, wake up early, and hang out at coffeeshops all of Saturday and part of Sunday. Best thing I've learned don…

Those blankets look so snuggly and aesthetic!!
I feel you with the winter blues, however for me, November and December I get this incredible boost of motivation. Thanksgiving and Christmas mean cozy warm drinks, cold nights, firepits, and holiday lights. But come January everything feels cold an…
Pushing myself with a longer update this week This week's theme is blinding infatuation!

If it was a reaally pretty penny, absolutely. Not that I don't love my story and enjoy working on it, but I've got other ideas bouncing around in my head, and the thought of paying off my debts and having some financial stability for creating art... heaven.
