I actually dont know where I spend coins ... like, where do I buy the keys?

yay, another gift! Curious, is the INBOX simply meant for messages that we receive from Tapas? Is there any other purpose or function for the Tapas app inbox? Seeing that it takes up a 3rd of the bottom menu bar, I've only had to check it twice since the update.

You click on the coins and the window will pop out to buy them (for real life money) you spend them to unlock episodes in certain comic series, most of them were in premium program. I find it a bit useless but I'm salty about the app in general. As far as I know 500 coins equal 4 keys

We try really hard to keep the key buying process as unobtrusive as possible.

So in general, just read away. And if you ever need a key for a certain episode, but you don't have one, you'll be prompted to buy one.

Then you can use your shiny new Tapas coins!

But, if you want to buy Keys beforehand, you can always just tap on the green Key icon like the one in this screenshot.

Thanks!

We're still getting all of our notifications and messaging in place for Tapas so I'm not sure everything the Product Team has in store. I do know a daily snack-ish type feature is just around the corner and that will use the inbox.

outta curiosity .... could the chapters to unlock just be '200 coins'? the keys seem like a middle step thats not necessaryly needed. that might be where the confusion is coming from.

The reason keys are not all the same cost is because we work closely with the creators to set the overall price and some stories are shorter or longer than others.

For example if one creator wants $10 for their story with 40 episodes, each episode will need to be around $.25, which determines the key price.

If another creator wants $10 for a story with 100 episodes then each episode will need to be around $.10. So that key price will be less in order help that creator hit their price point for the story.

Hope that helps!

ah yes but instead of different prices for the keys depending on the series, why not just have those esps need a certain amount of coins? for example one esp of one book need 200 coins, but another esp from a different book needs 350 coins. Its more transparent that way and easier to correlate between how many coins they need to how much money they need to spend on the app to get the content they want.

Ah got it.

Yeah, we thought about that. We really did. But the thing is we also work closely with individual creators to be able to give out a certain number of free Keys to their specific stories as well.

That is something the community hasn't really seen yet because the Dev team is still finalizing it, but once they're done we'll be able to do cool free Key giveaways for specific series based on whatever a creator feels like doing.

For instance, if a specific story isn't selling well and the creator wants to get more people to try their story, they can say "hey Tapas, why don't you give everyone 5 free keys to my story so people will come try it out".

That wouldn't be something we could do with a Coins only system because people might take those Coins and spend them on a story that creator didn't control.

When we give away Coins it's something Tapas is doing and Tapas will have to pay the creators whose Keys are bought with those Coins. In the future when we give away Keys directly, that is something Tapas won't have to pay for because the creator gave us permission to do it.

So basically, in a nutshell, Coins are the currency of the entire Tapas system and Keys are controlled by individual creators. And the number of free Keys we provide to readers is a discussion we have with every single creator involved with the Key program.

No message either...I had downloaded the app, but i hardly ever use it, as how I'm always on a desktop or laptop

If for some reason you didn't get your coins please comment here and we will check into it. If the logs say you were skipped for some reason we can make sure you get your coins.

I searched for it in the google play store and the only version I see says "Your device isn't compatible with this version". I tried searching for both "Tapas", "Tapas android" and "Tapastic". I only saw the one app.

Hi ahkwardhat,

Do you maybe have an older version of Android? Just a thought. Maybe try to update it. That could fix the problem.

Can I update the software on my phone? I had no idea I even could. The phone itself is about 5 years old, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the issue! XD Unfortunately I cannot afford a new phone, plus I'm moving to India in a month or two, so I'll be getting a new one then since my current one won't work in India.

Thanks for letting me know I'll look into it.

Really this app is great! Everyone should test it! wink
