I've been on Tapas for a long time and I honestly can't remember when I started.
But the only comic I've really had success is Halfsoul which I started January this year.
Since then,
I've been featured in new and noteworthy twice: Once in Feb? (from 72 to around 700? 800? something?) and again in March-ish? (from 550 to 1700 and now about 1550)
To note: After you get featured, it's utra-normal for sub counts to drop tremendously until it evens out :o
I do not know if I ever trended because I didn't know that was a thing D:
Stats for Halfsoul
1.6 K subs
66.6k views (I swear I haven't made a deal with a demon XD)
3.k likes in total
Total eps (including misc updates like announcements/ Q&A...etc): 41
@keii4ii makes a lot of good points. Overall stats can be pretty misleading so I feel it's more worthwhile to look at the stats of individual eps. How many people are actually reading it the week it comes out/ how do likes compare per eps....etc.
I somewhat disagree with that. Social media and growth for me is more like learning how to more effectively communicate and hold someone's attention. Not something I'm naturally good at, but it's a learning process. The moment you start comparing numbers, you're missing a lot of information. It's better to look at how and what people are doing to get "out there"
That said, I understand your pain. It can be ultra discouraging to see the numbers and feel that you aren't doing well. When I looked at some of my stats, some of it was pretty alarming + depressing and I was really depressed after my first feature because I thought I was failing as a story-teller when I didn't know sub-counts are supposed to drop after a feature. Success, especially in the arts is definitely a long race so don't give up if you don't get a strong head start. Keep making what you love ^-^
People get better at what they do XD My first comic was so bad that looking at it makes me cry inside, but it wasn't a bad thing to make. Because I sucked at first, I got better later. Make mistakes now, and you won't make them later. (unless it's shopping while hungry. I never learn.)
A++++++++++++ That's a good attitude to have ^-^
