I have a friend IRL who's my biggest fan (right after my wife, that is). She's pretty much enamored with Sekhmet:

She doesn't care if Sekhmet is a war criminal, she just finds her sexy and gorgeous and smart and whathave you. I have so much fun sending her, at times (via WhatsApp), pictures of my work in progress with the blue lines under the ink and all the mess, just to get her reaction: it's hilarious! She starts typing in all caps, gets typos all over the place, and often picks up the phone and tells me how beautiful Sekhmet is smiley It's really funny.

So, what about your characters? Do you have/know any fan IRL who'll just go nuts over them? What do they do to express that? And do you reward them a bit like I do with my friend?

Among my friends IRL only one of them reads my comic and I dunno what reactions he has with any of my OC's. That's why I uploaded my comics online, at least I get reactions from people I haven't met IRL.

I have a friend who loved my OC probably more than I do judging from that one time she wrote me an essay on why I shouldn't kill off my OC. She's an artist as well, so I'd get drawings of my OC and alternate universe ideas from her. Over the years, she had slowly becoming my wall to bounce ideas on and even helped me to become a better artist and storyteller, which I am grateful for! As for the reward, it's probably same as yours which include doodles, work in progress and work that I would never share online.

@infectedbloodcomics Nah! he will only have reactions to his own character (one of the rival drivers). I rather get reactions and fan arts from readers from different parts of the world than getting reactions from my friends. They are too much into the mainstream stuff and I like the exact opposite of all the things they like.XD But people in webcomic forums I can relate to for sure. ^u^

The WITCHNIGHT team, a trio of girls from a Wiccan organization, became very popular in Vatican Assassins. So much so that there was OUTRAGE when I killed one of them off. It makes me really happy that the readers liked them, and are looking forward to them appearing again. There's also some contempt towards Sister Rain, the head of the Assassins. Quite a few have expressed their displeasure with her methods and orders recently...

Good grief, when Sekhmet attempted suicide, my friend was so mad, I was happy to be on a trip far away from her!... So, my deepest sympathy, I understand you really well smiley

imagine having a character people care about outside of the 10 seconds they spend reading your comic

that must be great

Well you better look out maybe she going to cheat on your with a fictional character! oh no!
Most people are confused with my characters gender. That is mostly it....

Well, Sekhmet wouldn't be attracted to my friend smile She's just not her type.

I can see how people may get your characters' gender mixed up, but I just adore them and your comic. And I like the ambiguity there.

Ah well! what type of woman does sekhmet likes? Well I do try to make less confusing by using the pronouns though! and boobs! thanks!

I know one or two people IRL who are very interested in certain characters and send them silly doodles or works in progress when I can. I wouldn't say they were die hard fans, though. I'm sure they just like looking at pretty men.

I have IRL friends who draw fanart of Masahiro and Akane! XD It's amazing and flattering and totally cool.

My greatest fear right there -- that it won't ever happen.

A weird variation of it: that it will happen with some really minor character (!?!?), leaving my babies unloved...

My real life friends like my OC's although I wouldn't say they go nuts about them xD I get fan art from friends every now and then.
It's usually the online people that tend to throw me a whole bunch of interesting compliments and I sometimes get weird notifications on who put my characters in their collections on DeviantArt. Mel and Lucy have both been put into some really creepy collections lol

Few of my friends read my comic. I know they like the story but I'm not sure what they think of the characters. That's a good question to ask.
Maybe they'll tell me later on, when I go deeper into the plot.

I know my villian Socha REALLY get a rise out of people, Garf seems to be a crowd pleasing for his blunt but loving nature. People are trying to suss Bowen and as for Teb, people says she's cute ... but in all honesty I dont have a lot of feedback on the characters ^^; not sure if that good or bad

same!
