Master List of Recommendations
Comics
Anthology
Oddly Vanilla
One of the dudes who writes/draws this is all over the forum, but almost never posts the link. Next level writing and entertainingly eclectic smorgasbord of artstyles, each perfectly suited to it's assigned tale.
Action Fantasy
Dragon Sparking
It has a strong unique feeling to it. The characters designs are awesome and the action scenes are something else! Definitely worth a read, specially if you want a taste of some real action.
Errant
The art quality of this comic is to die for. The scenes are dinamic, all the backgrounds are amazing, the special effects are so unique and shiny and don't get me started on the panneling and lettering. Everything looks so profesional and the plot is very intriguing so far!
Rise of the Heroes
Has a classic RPG vibe to it that really gets me. The action packed arcs, the RPG games classes and lots of hijinks while drawing a serious plot under the surface. Definitely worth a read!
Comedy
Ibrahim Coyle
Reading this is like having a very entertaining, hardboiled fever dream. It's under "Comedy", but there's more to it.
Contacto Violento
Action/Comedy. Best action comedy ever. This shit is hilarious. Unique artstyle that practically punches you in the face. Most adorably clueless dumbass main character ever created.
Aqua Tide
Comedy / Slice of life. I really like the art style, the jokes always made me smile, the character design is super original and well researched ^^
Womanomicon
Funny shorts that made you smile, Nice art style, Witches and demons everywhere !! \o/
Slice of life
Tori and Samuel
Heartwarming, cute. It's about a corgi and a cat and they are suuuper adorable~!! Great for animal lovers
Skies Unlimited
Scenic, painting. This isn't really a story, more a series of gorgeous stills, but Fany is one of my favorite artists and her art is absolutely breathtaking, I recommend you check it out~!
Fantasy
Insane Five
A nice modern fantasy story, for now it's the beginning, but i'm hooked to it The use of the colors is si well done ! The characters are really interesting, the paneling and perspectives always impress me :3
A Man Called Ravenlord
Comedy, fantasy, action. The art style is gorgeous !! I'm in love with the humor, there are so soooo many hidden easter eggs !
Amorte
Lots of character development. The portrayal of each of the main cast feels really true and realistic. They feel like real people with real struggles in a fantasy land.
A Wheel Story
I've been reading this one for a while and I can't believe how underrated it is! The characters designs and color palette are so lovely and it has some really emotional undertones in a really original setting
Drama
Memento Mori - Sins
- Interesting mafia comic. Mafia, crime. Exciting plot, interesting characters, detailed art
- Seen some of my fave up already (Memento Mori !)
FIVE
Must ! Protect ! Main ! Character !!! Exploding with charm.
Looking for Oasis
Drama/Fantasy. The characters are really well written, the world building in this story is amazing, The story plot !
The Absent King
3 royal brothers; 1 is king (with no principles... loves to drink). There is a plot to defeat the king... probable romance... very well written - could easily be a TV series...
Historical Drama
Shackles
- The time seeting is Great, The characters are so alive ! The descriptions immerse you so well in the story.
- Historical romance, political thriller. I am not into historical period pieces that much, but the setting of ancient china is just too good and rare to resist! Not only that, but the characters, especially the Empress, are each strong, even if they do not have martial prowess. Really great story that questions the idea of who 'fate' decides is right for you and what your heart truly desires.
Mystery
Keith and Jeremy's Mystical Mysteries
I'm having an absolute blast reading this comic. The characters are realisticly written, the action is perfectly balanced with comedy and each episode always leaves me wanting to see what happens next
Horror
The Drowning
Fairly new. Needs more readers. Deserves it. (Heck, this deserves a publishing deal) Absolutely wonderful pro artwork, relatable, real characters and enjoyable dialogue.
Legio Arcana
Old favorite, still going strong. Horror/supernatural. Great ensemble cast (there's a doggie !) and a very distinctive B&W artstyle compliments the intensely creepy stories.
Hexameron
Horror, adventure. Reminds me a lot of the old horror kids shows and books I read; like Are You Afraid of the Dark but with an awesome intertwined story and plot. Art is also gorgeous!
Zombie Wife
-I love horror, gore, and action and this has all of that. Not only that, but I am a SUCKER for stories about people who will do ANYTHING to save the one they love, even fight death (or undeath) to get them back.
Romance
Six Degrees of Separation
Romance, drama, slice of life. Whimsical, Shoujo art with a story that, so far, is mature and melancholic. Love it.
Novels
Romance
Birth of a Sin
Action thriller, dark romance. Interesting characters, wonderful art inserts, detailed plot
Shadow's Prey
One of the earliest novels I picked up when I joined Tapas. Strong concept, interesting world, slow burn plot build. Romance (I've felt a stronger fantasy vibe from it though)
Secunda
Historical romance, Monster, Mature. There is something really refreshing about this novel. Though this is definitely a bit of a fantasy, the setting is so grounded in the reality that this reads more of a period romance. Yet instead of many of those bodice-ripping tales, there is an agency in the heroine and humanity in the monster (while firmly establishing that he is not, nor ever was, a homo sapien). Add in to other interested paramour and the hints of a healthy polyamorous relationship in the future, and we got a really lovely romance!
Fantasy
Curse of Immortals: Tempestatem
Good writing, interesting world
Jade Kingdoms
Fell in love with the art first, and story next. Strong world building.
Burning Shadow
Re-captures the feeling of reading your very first fantasy novel. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Lady Death
Fantasy novel / Drama / Romance. It's an adventure novel with faes, humans, halflings... Lady Death is rescued and brought home - some adventures in the middle... easily be a comic or cartoon! - very well written...
Slice of life
Woodland Bliss
Beautiful description, cute romance, nice bite-sized chapters
Horror
Prometheus Reanimated
I've always loved dark stories. Unfortunately, not a lot of people manage to work that into writing as effectively as this story. Writing that chills.
Science Fiction
Dark Bytes
Collection of short stories. Dystopian Science Fiction, Action. It's astounding how he's able to work out quality writing while managing another new novel as well. Quick, short bursts of on the edge of your seat fun. Fast-paced and dynamic
Poetry
Love Whispers Of Elementals
Poems! Good ones too. Short and sweet poetry with a strong, very evocative binding concept
