HI EVERYBODY!
I've been a Tapas(tic) fan and user for over a year and have decided to relaunch my entire webcomic here. Having used the system before and REALLY loving the atmosphere, the main thing that kept me from being a more regular content creator is the odd image size regulation (hence, the low number of uploads lately). As a webcomic strip (not book) creator, it's hard NOT to drive people nuts when you upload a frame sideways to make your landscape format art fit a portrait format frame. I'd like to see if there is a way to "flip" the page to allow for a wider image versus a taller image. If there is no provision for that, or if it's simply not possible, does anyone know of any tricks to getting a proper format via some kind of external "batch" image processor so that I don't have to resize my 1920x1080? Once landscape, I could simply make a Photoshop macro command to resize the image to fit the 900px dimension far more easily. If you'd like to take a look at the frame size and how it might fit into the system, I'd really appreciate it. (www.OliverAndTrouble.com6)

THANK YOU!!!

Hello!

I don't think there is a easy way to do this. I think you can set up an action, maybe, to do the resizing and hope for the best? I know you can do script to save out a bunch of Jpegs from PSDs though if you decide to restructure them. I mean are re-creating your panels or just want to resize what you already have? I know when I create my comic I keep in mind the size here. I put a link to some popular comic strip creators so you can see what they do.

Thank you for the reply! I actually have set up a few macro action to resize, but because it's a landscape image, I can to shrink it by about 22%, but the image does not expand large enough to see the entire comic strip without zooming it. I'm just REALLY hoping to add to my fan base and the frame size kind of kinks the hose.

With the layout of your comic, it might be worth it to consider rearranging the panels for Tapas! Compare Oops' standard format page4 with the version that's optimised for mobile6 to see an example of this -- basically taking the same panels, but rearranging them so that they fit better in Tapas' format!

A huuuuuge chunk of Tapas readers are reading comics on their phones. Landscape-oriented stuff would be EVEN SMALLER and even harder to read for those folks, which is why Tapas leans towards a more vertical format that works better on mobile.
