The worst tho was not reeeeally that bad when you see it, but I always remember it and get sad hahaha

My comic's about depression and stuff, and my character was always tired cuz... well, depression. And someone made fun of it. "oh wow he's slept aaaall day and is tired againnnn"

When i'm writing I always remember that and GRRRRRRRRRRR but yeah. Otherwise, I've got a couple of readers that are just cuties <3

Fortunately I haven't had this happen to me, yet, but I think I'm mentally prepared to take it if I ever get such a comment (after curling up into a ball and crying my eyes out).

think the rudest one i've gotten is like 'when you like the antagonist over the protagonist' it makes me feel a lil awkward since thats the chara i work the hardest one--

I think it is fine that some readers prefer the antagonist than the protagonist, however it should not be reproached to the author like that. Also, it does not mean the author did a mistake, it may be simply a personality difference between author and reader.
I often feel closer to antagonists that are non human sentient creatures like aliens or fantasy non human races, for example. I find it is difficult to comment politely to explain that. Sometimes the author get upset no matter how it is explained. But in my opinion the minimum the commenter should do is explain the personal path that made them feel closer/more empathetic to the antagonist, or sinply more interesting, due to the commenter personnal interests and expectations.

Edit: re reading it, the comment you receive can be taken a different way too, as 'when you (=me, the reader) is so weird that...) which is not a critic toward you at all. But it's not very clear.

I'd say the worst comment I've had so far is " It took you that long to draw that?" and that was yesterday in a conversation with someone I know.

It just rubbed me the wrong way as immediately after they went on to show me a bunch of artwork they had done in "minutes" as if to make a point.

Outside of that nothing.

I was drawing a costume for a contest and posting it on reddit but I didn't know what I was doing. I ended up uploading it like five times (like an 80 yr old learning to use an ipad or something). Friends from the game teased me about it but this guy interpreted it differently. Apparently I suck though o.o

I really don't get the sense people will deliberately comment rudely on this site. It's mostly taking it the wrong way but only appropriate response is not giving a shit. If it's not helpful, then I don't give it attention

It's a shame then that people don't tell you why they find the protagonist flat, then (Or why they appear flat when compared to the antagonist). 'Flat' does not help much. I can't promise to check it anytime soon because I have so much of a backlog of comics to read, but I put it on my to-read list with a note about that. It is Star boy, right?

Eh, it doesn't bother me. It made me wonder why my piece didn't do well in comparison to others and there were several factors. The last place you should ever go for confirmation of feelgoods is reddit.

It was years and years ago, on another website.
I was sort of in a bad place already with burnout and feeling low about my comic when I got a comment that amounted to "I don't know why people read this overrated crap. The art is garbage and the story doesn't make any sense."

I'm kinda sad to say that was the last straw for that comic. (Though, my current comic is a reboot of that old one hahaha. Guess I beat the troll in the end.)

I've gotten more hate than that over the years, but I think I remember that one just because of the timing of it.
