It's a shame then that people don't tell you why they find the protagonist flat, then (Or why they appear flat when compared to the antagonist). 'Flat' does not help much. I can't promise to check it anytime soon because I have so much of a backlog of comics to read, but I put it on my to-read list with a note about that. It is Star boy, right?
The number one thing I hate about the internet: people bravely punch others in the throat just because they can. I'm really sorry that someone said that to you.
Actually, maybe I shouldn't even say 'bravely', because I doubt these kinds of people would say anything like that in real life. So, more like 'cowardly'.
It was years and years ago, on another website.
I was sort of in a bad place already with burnout and feeling low about my comic when I got a comment that amounted to "I don't know why people read this overrated crap. The art is garbage and the story doesn't make any sense."
I'm kinda sad to say that was the last straw for that comic. (Though, my current comic is a reboot of that old one hahaha. Guess I beat the troll in the end.)
I've gotten more hate than that over the years, but I think I remember that one just because of the timing of it.
like some others said, the worst "comment" i've recieved from "readers" were complete silence. but that silence was added with a rating of 1/10,and so far these are most of the votes i've had for my comic. not only the fact that it dosn't help,it's straight up sabotage,my comic's stuck with a low rating, and so far none of those who voted this low bothered even telling me the reason....
so far i had only 1 comment, but that was actual fair criticism and the guy didn't rate me from what i know, the people who did rate me and rated me low said nothing.
i don't know how much i deserve for my comic, but i sure as hell know i don't deserve to get rated that low,and if i do,i worked hard enough to atleast know why... otherwise those ratings are literally a worse way to say "USUCKLOL"
From mangatoon: "i don't understand a thing...its just that m skipping through the pages. At first i thought the long haired was a girl until i saw him in the. shower
"
-maybe you'd understand if you read it instead of skipping... and I keep on getting baffled by people surprised that a BL series with a description clearly stating that it's about a gay couple has male protagonists, like, do those people even look at what they click?
and from webtoon: "Tf u talkin bout... this shit boring asf️
️" - that's just plain mean
Didn't answer any of these ;p also can't recall any such comments from tapas - I've got really supportive readers here ^^ also no mean comments from comicfury and globalcomix, though I don't get that many comments there in general ;p
tapas hasn't given me poor/mean comments, but I did get a few here and there on youtube. The comment was some middle school kid (yes they said their age in the comment) and it was something like, I can do better than this, blah blah blah, this thing sucks, blah blah. I basically responded with, Look at the video date. Its a few years old, and yes I can do better than this now to, so have a nice life somewhere else if you don't like it. I think I handled it pretty well, because I know that my fanbase at the time would have called them out on it (as it happened before) and I didn't want that to happen again. Another poor comment I got, although not insulting to me or my work, was a link to a porn site. Bots be putting these links in the wrong places. I was actually sad, as it was my first comment on DA and I was hoping for it be be another artist. NOPE.
I haven't gotten mean comments on my works yet. I am very grateful for that, but I did have someone randomly target me and call me the N word on one person's comic and told me something to effect of that they wish they could flag my comment and called me the three letter F word on another comic. I wasn't talking about anything except how cute the comic was on both occasions so I boiled it down to someone just wanted to be a troll. I ignored them and the comments were deleted by the creators.
Oh, for some maybe-necessary context, this is from a story about that popular Bowsette character from a few years ago. Bowser ends up coming out of the closet as transgender partway through the story (this sounds really stupid out of context) and then that becomes a very important part about the rest of the story. Based on the chapter they commented on, the reviewer didn't like something I did involving shipping and wrote this obviously because they thought it would cut me deep to call me a "bigot" but I found it funny more than anything else.
