So besides taking photos of yourself and strangers (or obsessively Googling), where do you find good figure reference photos? Do you have an go to book or website that is full of good reference photos of faces, hands, poses?

I'm really looking for a good site that may have lots of good model poses with different shots of the same pose (side, down, from behind.) I eagerly await the future where I have an online google sketchup for humans being posed in various actions with 360 degree turns. Does such a thing exist?

And I thought the 3DCG is the closest you can use for reference specifically for anime style.
Haven't explored yet if Design Doll is a trial.

Senshi Stock3 is a pretty good one for poses and full body references.
Line of Action1 is also pretty damn awesome! The site is meant for gesture and life (photo reference) studies, and has almost everything.
Fuckton of Anatomy References2, while not being a site for photo references in particular, does have photos mixed with tutorials and muscle references.
Humanae2 is a great blog for studying faces, and facial variety.
Artist References1 is also a site I use for photo studies.

Also, while it's not a reference site, Artist Daily has a little tips blurb on drawing from photos if anyone is interested.

When I read the title of this topic I thought you needed tips on how to hide a corpse :U

Well, I just google "stock pose" and then add something like "sit" or "stock pose jump" and Google usually delivers what I need.

It seems that the free version of Design Doll doesn't have the feature to Open files. You can save your work but you won't be able to open them. Too bad. Every time you want to make a reference with a specific body type, you'll always have to start from scratch.

I mostly use 3d modelling software myself. DesignDoll1 is a personal favourite of mine, but it was already mentioned. It's limited in two ways, however: The anatomy is very much cartoon / manga style, and the free version does not allow you to save your models (so once you customize a doll, you need to take a complete photoshot in one go).

MakeHuman3 has some incredible customization options, including age (from child to elder), a large variety of body builds, adjustable pregnancy, ability to customize each body part as you please (great for creating grotesque models!). However, it's got no posing of its own - you need a third party software like Blender to use your models. I know there are some other programs, but I found them too complicated and feature-heavy to use for reference.

I hope that helps!
