I'm not a big consumer of comics, but I will gladly give you my 2 cents. Just some stream of consciousness critiques:
I like the emotional impact of the story right off the bat. In some panels, I think you could have better facial definition in order to really bring out those emotions. I like the font used for Des' dialogue. Maud's font, not so much. The enemies with the skull masks look really cool. You use a good mix of scene establishing, wide shots (speaking in film terms, again, not a big comic consumer) and close-ups. I think your characters look good. you could put a little more detail into the backgrounds. Alex's gritty and violent POV is intense. Does a good job showing the harshness of this world. I feel for Karen. Really showing conflict and a realistic sense of loss there. I feel like there's a lot going on in a short period of time, and I prefer something that's a little more drawn out. I feel you're really good at character drama and emotion, so really letting the narrative breathe and giving us more quiet, contemplative scenes might be good. I would like to know more about the different species and factions here. There is a lot of world details that are unexplained: deities they pray to, and shout out for example. It is well-used in your dialogue, but it would be good to have some context behind it. Your action scenes are awesome. I like the choreography. That said, I think the pace is a bit frenetic. As alpeng pointed out in Crossing Over, that moment of respite is a really needed breath of fresh air. Sprinkle more in. Keep up the good work!!
