Well, I won't press, but if you are interested in understanding it at some point, here's a thread talking about getting started on twitter! http://forums.tapastic.com/t/twitter-how-does-it-work/8585 It's certainly not necessary, but Twitter is probably the social media that's easiest to network on right now, just because there's a very active community there.

if I'm an average passer-by, I won't click on any of these. Heck, even if I were following someone who posted these links, I'd still be very unlikely to click on them. Each of these could have an image instead of just a link -- if you're concerned about getting traffic to your site, you can do preview images, cropping out part of the picture and linking to your work like this or this, but unless you're worried about ad revenue, I think it'd do the most good to just post the whole image on tumblr!
As far as tagging goes, look at the tags other artists use! I wouldn't have thought to use "#artists on tumblr" or "#webcomics on tumblr" until I saw comic artists that I follow use those tags. You can also do a search for the tag you're thinking of using to see what other tags get used on that sort of artwork!
