Sequel: Do I create a new comic?

So the sequel to my comic story is about 20 years in the future, society has changed, new characters but some the same. They are both intrinsically linked but both can stand alone.

What should I do?
- continue the episodes from the last chapter of the first comic? OR
-start a new one?

most people make it in a new comic but put at the top in the description [Sequal] to make sure people dont read it before the first one

I'd go with new, if only because it's a completely fresh start. People who weren't interested by the first comic initially may feel more okay with reading the new one first if it's it's own thing, and then if they really like it they can go back and read the first one later.

Also starting a completely new series will make it easier for the comic to get into trending/popular, and you'll get rid of all of those inactive readers that you have too.

start a new one. but make it clear that it's a sequel. for example, the first season of avatar is the last air bender and the second is the legend of korra. you can do it like (title of first comic): a new beginning. make a note or prologue on the first chapter but not too detailed so there won't be spoilers for the first comic.
