What it says in the title, pretty much!

Share a few lines of your writing that you're particularly proud of, then link the story it's from! I'll go first.

Most noblewomen would be devastated if ever faced with such a terrible situation. Not only had they lost their husband, but now they must sequester themselves from the rest of society for months on end. They might as well have been handed a prison sentence.

I, on the other hand, considered my husband’s death a blessing.

Featured in the prologue, which I was hoping would catch a reader's interest. From my new romantasy isekai story, Transmigrator In Waiting:

Might as well start with the beginning. I'm very proud of a lot of my lines (egotist or queen xd, who knows?) so I'll start with chapter one:

The frozen night gnaws at my face like it hasn’t eaten in days, alive with a bouquet of red currants and fanfare. The smell of perfume slips silently out of the after-party and down the spiral staircase, escaping through the closed door in lusty drafts like a flower garden on steroids.

Lucian, with practiced ease, navigated the throng of festively attired devils. Succubi with skin the color of polished obsidian and horns that curled like rams’ horns sashayed by, their laughter echoing with a chilling undertone. Imps, the diminutive servitors of Hell, scurried about laden with trays of exotic delicacies, their beady eyes darting nervously.

This is from the beginning of chapter one. I'm just really proud of how the portrayal of the party came across. It makes it seem ritzy.

This part made my creativity engines run

As Mephistopheles had explained earlier, the walls soon began to turn like a large gambling machine. The first wall displayed a cheerful decoration and exuded an air of tranquility. The second wall featured a more precarious decoration. The third wall opened to a dark corridor resembling the Catacombs they had just left. And, as if the enormous luck of having ended up in a room like that wasn't enough, the same noises from the eyeless demons came from the dark corridor!
Quickly, Mephistopheles inserted more coins into the holder, and Addai pulled the handle. The walls moved again. One stopped in a luxurious decoration with luxurious refinements, the second stopped in the same decoration as the first, and the third stopped in what looked like a bathroom.

"You guys are terrible," Mephistopheles grumbled, inserting more coins into the "machine."

Okay! This is from chapter one of my illustrated novel, CHASM:

" And there's the familiar darkness again. Unraveling the two of us, solving our mysteries—without telling us the secrets. I hear my counterpart speak as if he was right next to me. He says:
'Who ARE we?'
And then he is gone, and I am back at the village, with my one-eyed acquaintance, observing the view; a deafening silence. "

The Scrivener lowered his gaze from a moonless night sky and rubbed at the crick in his neck. As always, the ancient constellations and the sweep of the Milky Way, the edge of the galaxy, were majestic. But almost equally interesting was watching the stately glide of satellites among the ancient splendors of the night.
He noticed his pipe had gone out, so he decided it was time to go back inside. He knew that pipe-smoking was considered to be a bad habit, but it pleased him to have at least one bad habit. He thought they made life more interesting.
He tapped out the dead ashes from the pipe’s bowl atop one of the stone pillars that supported his wrought iron gate, turned and walked slowly to his doorway.
He opened and closed the door quietly and stepped out of his boots in the dark entryway. After noiselessly barring the door, he went into the study, where a small light glowed over an ancient writing desk. He hitched himself up onto an equally ancient stool in front of the desk and took down a heavy tome, also ancient, but beautifully made. Embossed on the cover was an image of a sleeping dragon lying in a clearing of a dark green forest. Leaning against its side was a small human, hands folded in sleep.

this is the first time in years that I cried for real my wheeling could probably be heard through the hospital "I... I don't want to lo...lose my best friend!!! No... that's not true, you are more than that, you are one of the only good things in my life I can't lose you, not you, please... please I'm sorry please come back to me, please don't leave me here all alone!!!"

“if you don’t see them they can’t see you”, I kept saying that until the voice of Yun said “You know that’s true, that’s very true, but when you say it out loud they can still hear you”
(not my proudest line but I just find it funny I might come back to this thread when more of the story is out)

"As he pondered what to do next, the last crimson rays of the setting sun slowly sunk into the mountains, as if the peaks surrounding Pine Hill were the toothy maw of a gigantic beast taking a bite out of the sun."

The endless hum of over-bright. LED. electric lights. sings in my ears like a chorus of skittish cicadas, fanning their wings, as if they’re desperate to escape. I can’t blame them. Trembling like a miniature earthquake. My body tries to make sense of this cataclysm that’s left my world seeing stars.

My head spins again, turning bodies topsy turvy. Smearing faces into the paint. Baptized with blood in the white space. I’m not even sure when I woke up or how long I’ve spent lying here, staring at the walls or the ceiling. My senses are all scrambled. Am I facing the left or the right? Am I hearing or feeling the voices crashing around me, a barrage of nervous wrecks? I swim in the excruciating sensation, almost blacking out.

I’m still the one picking up the slack, bending over backward to try to fill in the gaps.

I’m still the one who will always be of no concern because I have no feelings to hurt.

This is just my reality. Horrible day or things going well.

This is as bad as it gets. This is as good as it gets.

"My steady breathing deepens with each intake. Exhaling a stream of warm air bellowing out like the breath of a monster. It slides around me the only thing keeping my cheeks from losing feeling like the rest of my body has. I can't even touch the fiery power that use to dwell deep in the bit of my belly, it's too cold and getting colder by the second. Head bobbing, eyes flickering up and down, I can feel the sweet kiss of sleep. It's said that when freezing you warm up suddenly and pass out. I fear that the warmth is coming quicker than anticipated. Fighting hard against sleep, it's even more difficult since I'm numb with intense boredom. The endless days and nights have stopped, and there's no sensation of time passing me by. Just the freezing cold, and empty darkness."

Eden was a stiff as a tree as she felt Nova’s fingers in her hair. She didn’t know how to react. Many people had played with her hair over the years. They always said, ‘its calming and relaxing’ but Eden never saw the point. People always complimented her hair and begged her to let them style it. Honestly, she despised how long her hair was. It was always getting caught on things and mattered quickly. But it brought comforted to people, so she supposes it isn’t too bad.

Just some fluff. I wanted to write something nice after the angst and I just like happy simple scenes like this.

"What's going on, Captain?" Arc asked, peering over Captain Stross Burg's shoulder. His voice held a note of concern, his eyes scanning the scene ahead.

Stross Burg pointed ahead, his weathered face etched with concern. "Landslide, young master. The path is blocked."

Arc squinted at the obstructed road. They were on a mountain pass, with a higher elevation on their left and a steep slope leading to the Breggia River on their right. Beyond the river, another mountain mirrored their terrain. The space between the hills was narrow, and a landslide had created a formidable obstacle. Large boulders and debris littered the path, making it impassable.

"How long until we can clear it?" Arc inquired, feeling a twinge of impatience. The thought of being delayed frustrated him, and he could sense the unease among the convoy members.

Stross Burg hesitated, then replied, "Shouldn't be too long, young master."

Arc wasn't entirely satisfied with the vague estimate, but before he could press further, Disaster Struck. Another rockslide crashed down upon the rear of the convoy. The ground shook violently, and the noise was deafening. Some carriages on the rear side tumbled off the cliff, and panic spread among the soldiers. The scene was chaotic, with shouts and cries filling the air.

Stross Burg and Arc rushed to assess the situation. Amidst the chaos, a volley of magical spells descended from the sky, catching the defenders off guard. The spells rained down, indiscriminately killing and injuring many. The sky above was lit with bursts of mana energy, creating a deadly spectacle. Stross Burg erected a magic barrier in the nick of time, shielding himself and his young master from the onslaught. The barrier shimmered with a pale blue light, absorbing the impact of the spells.

"Are you alright, young master?" Captain Stross Burg questioned in a worried tone. His eyes scanned Arc for any signs of injury.

Arc nodded, though he felt a sharp pain in his side where a stray spell had grazed him. He winced but tried to hide his discomfort. "I'm fine, Captain Stross Burg. We need to regroup and find a way out of this mess."
